Urban Adventures-peru_cusco_machu_picchu_aboveIntrepid Travel, a world leader in responsible travel, has cancelled its Queensland Daintree Explorer in North Queensland in light of Cyclone Jasper set to hit the region.

Intrepid has also diverted its Brisbane to Cairns Adventure group from travelling further North towards the cyclone zone. It is working on an alternative route to bring the group of 12 back down South to safety.

Brett Mitchell, Managing Director ANZ at Intrepid Travel says, “With Cyclone Jasper making his way towards the coast of North Queensland, travellers should seek shelter and keep away from hazards. The local community is well prepared, so travellers need to watch for local updates from authorities and tour guides on the ground.”

Intrepid has also cancelled all stays at its Daintree Ecolodge and has prepared the property according to safety and government guidelines, evacuating all staff to safety.

As Cyclone Jasper reaches North Queensland, Intrepid advises travellers to stay safe, follow the guidelines of local leaders and the government and stay up to date with the news.
