In a significant boost to international travel, Cathay Pacific has announced an increase in its flight frequency on the Brisbane-Hong Kong route, marking a pivotal moment in the airline’s operations. The expansion from four to six weekly flights represents a 50% increase, catering to the growing demand in tourism, cargo exports, and the influx of international students.
This service enhancement, operational from today, has the potential to reshape Queensland’s tourism and export sectors profoundly. “Our commitment to Queensland is stronger than ever,” stated Frosti Lau, Regional General Manager of Southwest Pacific. “This increase to six flights a week is a testament to our dedication to meeting the rising demand and ensuring unparalleled service.”
Cathay Pacific’s decision to up-scale operations in Australia, particularly with this route, is a strategic move reflecting their long-standing relationship with Brisbane, celebrated earlier this year with their 41st anniversary of service to the city. The increased frequency is a part of Cathay Pacific’s broader strategy in 2023 to restore seamless connectivity to Hong Kong and its extensive global network.
Travellers on the upgraded Brisbane-Hong Kong service will experience the airline’s renowned cabin comfort, boasting a mix of A350 and Boeing 777 aircraft. These aircraft offer a maximum capacity of 294 seats, including 59 fully flat Business class seats, 34 Premium Economy, and 201 Economy seats. Additionally, Cathay Pacific’s award-winning inflight entertainment will be a highlight, featuring over 100 hours of content from major studios on Disney+.
The airline’s schedule for the additional flights is meticulously planned. Flight CX156 will depart from Brisbane every day from Friday to Wednesday at 00:40, arriving in Hong Kong at 07:30. The return flight, CX157, will leave Hong Kong from Thursday to Tuesday at 12:30, reaching Brisbane at 23:15.
This expansion is more than just a schedule adjustment; it represents Cathay Pacific’s unwavering commitment to quality service and customer satisfaction. It also signifies a robust confidence in the post-pandemic recovery of the aviation sector, and more specifically, the resilience and potential of the Queensland market.
Bookings for the expanded Brisbane-Hong Kong service are now open, with details available on Cathay Pacific’s official website, www.cathaypacific.com/au. This upgrade is not just a boon for travellers but also a significant stride forward for international connectivity and commerce.
