A young man and a woman came to the travel agency.Landmark Brisbane restaurant Leonards Bar and Bistro has been transformed into a world class Bar School to train up a new generation of highly skilled bartenders and hospitality staff.

The Brisbane Bartending School, which opens today (December 4) offers school leavers and job seekers access to courses that run from eight weeks to 52 weeks including a SIT30622 Certificate III in Hospitality.

As well as essential bar and beverage skills, the courses cover certifications needed under Queensland legislation, including the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA), Responsible Service of Gambling (RSG), and Basic Food Handlers.

Allara Global CEO Andrew Lewis says Allara Global offers online training courses while Allara Learning provides access to RTO/Accredited courses.

“We are delivering a comprehensive hands-on experience. Classroom based learning is combined with on-the-job training in a real-world restaurant with world class mixologists,” Mr Lewis said.

“Students are also introduced to restaurants, cafes, pubs, and hotels through an extensive network of industry partners.”

Mr Lewis says he hopes the Brisbane Bartending School will help address workplace shortages for skilled staff and position hospitality as a lifelong career option.

“We want people to know that hospitality is not just a summer job or a temporary job, but a career that has pathways to management and leadership”.

He said data shows 45 per cent of hospitality businesses are in desperate need of more staff so there are great prospects for graduates of the Bar School to secure a job.

Enrolments are now open.
