In a remarkable expansion of its global footprint, Etihad Airways, the prestigious national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, has unveiled an exhilarating Summer 2024 schedule. This strategic move amplifies Abu Dhabi’s international reach and promises an invigorating travel experience for its customers.
The summer schedule is a testament to Etihad’s commitment to growth, as explained by Antonoaldo Neves, the airline’s Chief Executive Officer. “Our exciting summer schedule reinforces our commitment to growth, giving our customers the destinations, frequencies, and timings for European and Asian destinations which suit them,” Neves stated. “It also allows us to attract more visitors to Abu Dhabi to promote the expansion of tourism in our wonderful home.”
This expansion includes the introduction of enticing new destinations. Travellers can now enjoy non-stop flights to the French Riviera’s gem, Nice, and direct services to the Greek vacation havens of Mykonos and Santorini. Additionally, previously a seasonal destination, Copenhagen will now grace the airline’s year-round schedule due to its overwhelming popularity.
Frequency enhancements are another highlight of the summer offering. Key destinations such as Ahmedabad, Athens, Bangkok, and Colombo will witness additional flights, enriching connectivity and offering travellers more choices. Athens, in particular, will see a significant increase to 12 flights a week from May and 14 from July, catering to the growing demand for this historic destination.
Moreover, the summer of 2024 will see Malaga, Spain, bask in a three-weekly service, and the picturesque islands of Mykonos and Santorini in Greece will enjoy two flights per week each. The French city of Nice will also be connected with two non-stop weekly services from June 2024.
The expansion doesn’t end there. Bangkok, Thailand, will benefit from three additional February flights, totalling 17 a week. Colombo, Sri Lanka, enjoys a frequency boost to 10 weekly flights from January, rising to 14 from May. These adjustments are strategically made for better connectivity to European destinations.
Etihad’s ambitious growth extends to announcing new destinations for 2024, including Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram in the Indian Subcontinent, Boston in North America, and Nairobi in East Africa. This comprehensive approach to network expansion reaffirms Etihad’s determination to add several new destinations over the next year.
These enhancements in the airline’s schedule are not merely about adding flights; they’re about creating experiences. The timings and frequencies allow customers to enjoy Abu Dhabi’s stopover hotels and visitor attractions until their checkout time, aligning with Etihad’s vision of being the airline of choice for global travellers.
As Etihad Airways gears up for a summer of exceptional growth in 2024, the airline is set to redefine travel experiences, making it more than just about reaching a destination – it’s about embarking on a journey of discovery and luxury.
