Employees from Concord Hospitality – from front desk staff to the executive team – joined together for its 15th annual day of giving known as Share Day on November 9. Each of Concord Hospitality hotels across North America participated in charitable activities during this annual event, donating more than 6,000 volunteer hours and 235,800 meals to local communities on this day alone.
This year, Concord Hospitality continued its partnership with Feed the Children to provide food and other essential items to underserved families in the communities where Concord employees live and work. Continuing the efforts into the rest of the week, the Courtyard Marriott, AC Hotel, and Hyatt House teams located in Lansing, Michigan provided an additional 33,000 meals in partnership with Feed the Children and alongside two time NBA Hall of famer, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, on November 11. By the end of the weekend, team members distributed food and household products – totaling over 268,800 meals – to 3,200 families.
Share Day projects took place throughout the United States and Canada with hotel and corporate office employees volunteering throughout the day with Feed the Children and other local partners. Inspired by Concord’s efforts, HD Supply provided meals to Concord volunteers, creating an even bigger chain of support and teamwork within each market.. Since its inaugural Share Day in 2009, Concord Hospitality team members have raised more than $1.4 million, donated over 55,000 hours of service, and distributed 3.9 million meals to 44,000 families. The annual event aligns with Concord’s commitment of not only providing hotel ownership, management and development expertise, but also making it possible for team members to partake in a rich and vibrant culture established and propelled by its five core pillars of delivering quality, living integrity, supporting community, growing profitability and having fun.
“With a culture built on quality, integrity, community, profitability and fun, Concord strives to exercise its core values through our annual Share Day providing our team members with the opportunity to give back in the communities where they live and work” said Debra Punke, Chief Human Resource Officer.
“I’m incredibly proud of our team for uniting to help our local communities for the past 15 years and we look forward to continue this venture for years to come as we remain dedicated to aiding and uplifting our communities in every possible manner” said President & Chief Executive Officer, Mark Laport
This year, the largest Share Day events happened in ten markets including the cities of Lansing, MI.; East Rutherford, NJ.; Pittsburgh, PA, Orlando, FL.; Savannah, GA.; Dayton, OH.; San Antonio, TX.; Raleigh, NC; and Toronto, CA.
