Perched on the edge of Sydney’s sparkling harbour, stands Darling Point’s very first house, Lindesay – an elegant 1834 Gothic Revival mansion. Generously gifted to the National Trust NSW in 1963 by Walter Pye, the sought-after venue for weddings, special occasions and filming, Lindesay will transform into a three-day Christmas market this November.
In 2023, the fair celebrates its milestone 21st year. Operating since 2002, the fair is a must-do in the festive season calendar. Visitors can browse more than 50 boutique stalls and shop luxurious gifts and speciality products including linens, jewellery, clothing, gourmet foods and more.
Organised annually by the Special Events Panel of the National Trust Women’s Committee, the fair raises funds for the conservation of historic Lindesay.
“By attending, visitors can embrace the festive spirit and shop knowing they’re contributing directly to the preservation of Lindesay’’ said Toni Maher, a long-term member of the organising committee.
“We’re looking forward to providing a unique shopping experience in keeping with the elegant setting of the heritage-listed property” “For our first year we had a small selection of stalls, now 21 years later, we have spilled out into garden and down into the cellar. It really is fantastic to see.’’
“We look forward to welcoming everyone. Our visitors come from the local community, Greater Sydney, as well as places like the Hunter Valley, the Southern Highlands and the Blue Mountains’’ said Toni.
Visitors can shop for special gifts, explore historic Lindesay and refuel with light refreshments in the courtyard or under the shade of the enormous old plane trees. Rain or shine, stalls and visitors are undercover and protected from the weather.
A fundraising raffle including two major prizes – one week’s accommodation in Noosa and a stay at the Byng Street Hotel in Orange – will be on offer.
Santa will make a special appearance, 11am – 2pm on Saturday 18 November.
