Lucerne, Swiss Travel Mart 2019Amidst geopolitical, economic, and environmental challenges, the incentive travel industry remains on a growth trajectory, with promising projections until 2025. The latest findings from the Incentive Travel Index (ITI) 2023, jointly conducted by the Incentive Research Foundation (IRF) and the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence’s Foundation (SITE Foundation), in collaboration with Oxford Economics, paint a vivid picture of the industry’s resilience and adaptability.

While the overall industry numbers project positivity, the emphasis on tangible financial ROI and heightened cost-related concerns suggest businesses are proceeding cautiously. These considerations draw their essence from the tumultuous global events and their potential impact on travel.

Diverse patterns emerged within the report, highlighting the importance of geography and sector-specific insights. Notably, the finance & insurance, technology, pharma, manufacturing, automotive, and direct selling sectors demonstrated unique trends.

Annette Gregg, the esteemed CEO of SITE, emphasized the ITI’s granular approach, noting, “The 2023 Incentive Travel Index offers a deep dive into data by industry and region, paving the way for industry professionals to curate decisions aligning with their bespoke goals. It’s a testament to the fact that a generic approach won’t suffice. Professionals need to be astute, understanding that stark differences might exist based on industry type or location.”

The incentive travel domain is also seeing a surge in demand for untouched destinations. 71% of survey respondents anticipate heightened demand for newer travel spots. Stephanie Harris, the President of IRF, adds, “With this surge in demand, coupled with the projected growth, industry professionals must navigate the hurdles of availability and access to resources. The logistics of incentivized travel experiences can be intricate, underscoring the need for fortified partnerships with suppliers, such as hotels, Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), and Destination Management Companies (DMCs).”
