Set in Miami, the partnership aims to introduce an all-new, all-electric seaglider service promising zero-emission coastal voyages.

The innovative deal implies that Miami, already a bustling travel hub, is about to witness a quantum leap in regional connectivity. Notably, this isn’t the inception of the collaboration between REGENT and Surf Air, as ties with Surf Air’s subsidiary, Southern Airways, have flourished over time.

Travelers across the South Florida region, which experiences a whopping 9 million commuters yearly, are in for a transformative experience. The seaglider operations, when in full swing, might accommodate as much as 1.5 million of this colossal number, providing impeccable connectivity between crucial spots such as the Miami International Airport, PortMiami, and other coastal destinations.

Surf Air Mobility, already dominating the US airspace as its most expansive commuter airline by scheduled departures, is embarking on this venture with clear-cut strategies. By integrating their unparalleled commercial relationships and existing patron base, Surf Air intends to provide a robust platform for avant-garde vehicles, particularly the REGENT seaglider, ensuring a brisk market entry and expansive growth.

Stan Little, the visionary CEO of Surf Air Mobility, believes that the seagliders crafted by REGENT are the much-needed panacea for Miami’s burgeoning transport demands. He avowed, “Tapping into Surf Air’s expansive platform to introduce electrified transportation, we foresee the REGENT seagliders inaugurating fresh coastal routes in Florida, reinforcing our unwavering commitment to an electrified fleet.”

Surf Air’s recent acquisition of Southern Airways is noteworthy, underpinning this venture. This strategic acquisition will see Southern Airways debut the groundbreaking 12-passenger Viceroy seaglider under their esteemed Mokulele brand.

Billy Thalheimer, co-founder and esteemed CEO of REGENT, voiced his enthusiasm: “With Surf Air leading the charge in Miami and South Florida, our mutual aspiration for eco-friendly transport resonates with Miami’s progressive leadership and infrastructural providers.”

Seagliders are a trailblazing transport mode marrying aircraft agility with boats’ versatility. Primarily serving coastal regions, they utilize the existing dock infrastructure, promising commutes spanning up to 180 miles with contemporary battery technology.

As Miami-Dade County relentlessly champions a dynamic economy and transit system, Oliver G. Gilbert III, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, stated, “Incorporating seagliders augments our advanced mobility tech, bolstering state and global metropolitan transit frameworks.”
