In a glittering spectacle of grandeur, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has monumentally shaped a narrative of immense success and innovative drive at the recent IT&CM Asia 2023 held in Bangkok. Galvanized by a riveting turnout and the debut of Pattaya’s seminal City Package, the Thai contingent, under the stalwart leadership of TCEB, not only illuminated their capabilities but also carved out a new epoch in the realm of Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE).
The luminosity of Thailand’s presence was palpable, with a staggering 405 leads emanating from three potent exhibition areas, significantly outshining their previous year’s achievements. The Thailand Pavilion, hosting 40 exhibitors alone, propelled itself into the limelight with 135 leads, marking a 43.6% ascent from the preceding year while amassing potential revenue valuations, reaching an awe-inspiring 1,764 million baht.
With the accolade of a designated MICE City within Thailand’s industrious Eastern Economic Corridor, Pattaya stepped boldly onto the global stage, introducing an innovative and meticulously crafted incentive package for event planners and organizers dubbed the “City Package”. This synergistically co-created initiative with TCEB is not merely a package but a beacon of boundless possibilities, offering a myriad of support ranging from bidding, governmental endorsement, extensive publicity, and promotional undertakings to recommendations on venues adhering to the stringent Thailand MICE Venue Standards (TMVS).
Pattaya Pavilion’s participation was pivotal, generating a potential yield of 30,000 travellers and a flourishing 2,000 million baht of revenue. The juxtaposition of Pattaya’s tangible readiness and the adept expertise of TCEB has sculpted a platform that not only underlines the robust fundamentals but also broadens marketing horizons, transforming Pattaya’s strategic position into an invaluable asset within the heart of the Eastern Economic Corridor.
In the poignant words of Ms Titipun Pettrakul, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, “Pattaya is ready for the world. Our first-ever City Package gives event organizers great reasons to consider Pattaya for MICE. With TCEB’s support and coordination, we have the strong fundamentals and marketing reach to turn our location in the heart of the Eastern Economic Corridor into a winning proposition.”
Diligently nestled in the Isan MICE Stand, potential buyers were greeted by ten exhibitors hailing from three pivotal cities within Thailand’s northeastern Isan region – Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, and Nakhon Ratchasima, each a nexus of economic, transport, cultural, and educational hubs in the region. Udon Thani clinched the prestigious bid to host the International Horticultural Exposition in 2026. With the advent of improved connectivity through Thailand’s high-speed rail network, set to link Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima in 2026, the future looks effervescently promising.
TCEB’s President, Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, eloquently encapsulated the experience, stating, “Thailand put up a tremendous showing at IT&CM Asia this year and we have the results to show for it – 405 leads. Pattaya and Isan had their standalone stands next to the Thailand Pavilion this year and contributed 270 of the total 405 leads.”
Echoing the zealous vibrancy of the event and the relentless pursuit of excellence exhibited by every participant, this year’s IT&CM Asia became a conduit through which new horizons were explored, connections forged, and a future where Thailand takes a central role in shaping the global MICE industry was vividly imagined.
In this resplendent tapestry of triumph, innovation, and unyielding determination, the Thai Team, under the strategic guidance of TCEB, has not only established an indelible mark on the IT&CM Asia 2023 but also firmly solidified Thailand’s position as a formidable player on the global MICE stage.
