Formula 1 superstar and Perth (Boorloo) native Daniel Ricciardo recently took a break from racing box to box for an unforgettable and mesmerising road trip along the surreal coastal highways of his hometown in Western Australia.
Joined by his best mate Blake, Daniel embarked on an adventure along the Coral Coast highway, traversing the otherworldly hues of Hutt Lagoon, a World-Heritage-listed slice of paradise in Shark Bay (Gutharraguda) and the exhilaration of swimming with majestic whale sharks in the pristine waters of Ningaloo Reef (Nyinggulu).
It’s a bucket list road trip Daniel and Blake have been talking about since they were teenagers. Their experience exploring the diverse and picturesque landscapes is captured in a new Tourism WA campaign ‘Drive the Dream,’ with a short film showing the special moment two best friends reconnect on the open road.
With more than 10,000 km of spectacular coastline, Aboriginal cultural experiences representing 60,000 years of tradition, and unique flavours crafted by earth and sea, a road trip is the best way to explore Western Australia’s nature and wildlife encounters. As Australia’s largest state, it’s always sunny somewhere and ripe for exploring the otherworldly textures and supernatural colour contrasts that make up Western Australia’s ancient landscape.
Brimming with boundless adventure, the new WA road trips guide also launched today, helping surmise some of the most unique and otherworldly encounters on offer and to ignite the passion for visitors witnessing the magic through Daniel’s eyes.
