The world of business tourism today mourns a luminary. The Globus family of brands (GFOB) honours the exceptional life and work of Joyce Weir, their dynamo National Business Development Manager in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, Exhibitions) segment, whose life was tragically cut short on Monday.
Joining GFOB in early 2021, Weir’s nearly three-year tenure saw her spearheading significant opportunities in the high-stakes domain of business conferencing and incentives. With meticulous precision, she crafted bespoke MICE programs that stood out for their originality and value.
In a poignant tribute, Gai Tyrrell, GFOB’s Managing Director for Asia Pacific, underlined Weir’s effervescence. “Joyce’s unwavering commitment and vitality made her an indispensable part of our tapestry. Her magnetism was her unyielding quest for excellence, always accompanied by her infectious enthusiasm,” Tyrrell fondly reminisced.
Weir wasn’t just a corporate powerhouse; she was a beacon in the Australian travel sector. Synonymous with loyalty and a person-centric approach, she created ripples with her dedication, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she collaborated with.
Before her illustrious journey with GFOB, Weir’s career highlights included a transformative role at Hawaiian Airlines. As their Business Development Manager for MICE, Groups, and Cruises, she was the proud recipient of the coveted ‘Lau Lima’ award, a recognition by the Hawaiian Airlines CEO for unparalleled sales excellence. Not to forget, her commendable 15-year association with Qantas Airlines, where she scaled various roles, demonstrating her versatility and sheer commitment to the travel industry.
In this sorrowful period, GFOB extends heartfelt condolences to Joyce Weir’s close ones, remembering a professional par excellence and an individual whose impact will be felt for generations.
