The famed Gold Coast has a new shimmering jewel in its skyline. The Star Gold Coast’s towering edifice, with a $400m budget, has boldly claimed its position at the halfway mark, reaching an impressive 100 metres. This 65-storey marvel, part of a whopping $2 billion masterplan, is well on its journey upward, aiming to dominate the skies by the end of 2024.
According to Silas Croucher, the Project Director of the esteemed Destination Gold Coast Consortium, this moment is significant. “Though we’re at the midpoint, this majestic structure has already reinvented the Gold Coast’s coastal panorama,” Croucher highlighted, adding, “Its golden, glass façade is a beacon, illuminating the Broadbeach precinct.”
For those fascinated by the stats, the project’s magnitude is breathtaking. The construction has witnessed the pouring of nearly 11,945m^3 of concrete – akin to five Olympic-sized swimming pools. The 4,320 tonnes of reinforced steel used is comparable to the weight of nearly 400 school buses. And the residential front? All 437 lavish one, two, and three-bedroom residential spaces have been snapped up – a testament to the tower’s allure.
The structure isn’t just about residential splendour. Nestled within will be a luxurious five-star hotel, set to connect seamlessly to The Star Gold Coast’s myriad of offerings. Jess Mellor, The Star Gold Coast’s Chief Operating Officer, expressed her exhilaration, “Witnessing our grand vision unfolding is exhilarating. This is more than a tower; it’s a legacy for Gold Coast. With this, we’re not only fuelling the local job market but cementing our city as a world-class tourist magnet.”
Ms. Mellor further added, “Once this architectural marvel stands tall, it will nearly rival the room capacity of the iconic Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. We envision more than just a tower; it’s about amplifying tourism facilities and offering state-of-the-art event spaces. Our aim? To magnetize the business and convention market, thereby reviving our economy, especially during traditional downtimes.”
In the run-up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Mellor proudly affirms that they’re right on track, “We are racing down the green and gold track, ensuring our portfolio of tourism, events, and hospitality stands unmatched.”
The Star Entertainment Group, in partnership with its consortium peers, is the force behind this transformative edifice. Notably, they are also the visionaries gearing up for the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane project, slated to be unveiled in stages in April 2024.
