Rail Europe has announced the addition of nine popular Swiss mountains to its portfolio of product offerings, bookable via both B2B and B2C channels.
Accessible by cable cars and/or trains, the mountains include:
· The Gornergrat – Switzerland’s first electric rack railway that reaches above Zermatt;
· The Harderbahn – a short funicular ride up to Harder Kulm from Interlaken;
· Mt Pilatus – the steepest cogwheel ride in the world overlooking Luzern;
· Titlis Rotair – a 360° rotating cable car ride up to the summit of Mt Titlis;
· CabriO Stanserhorn – a cableway with an open roof deck between Stans and Stanserhorn;
· Monte Generoso – the only cog railway in Ticino that goes up to Monte Generoso;
· Schynige Platte – a 126-year-old cog railway connecting Wilderswil to Schynige Platte;
· Jungfraujoch, Top of Europe – the highest railway station in Europe; and
· Rocher-de-Naye – a scenic ride from Lake Geneva to Rochers-de-Naye, overlooking Montreux.
GM of Rail Europe APAC, Richard Leonard, says Switzerland is one of Rail Europe’s prime selling destinations in Australian and New Zealand; and the addition of these popular mountain experiences gives advisors and travellers increased flexibility when planning their Swiss itineraries, especially with the winter season just around the corner.
These mountain journeys can be purchased as standalone experiences or booked as part of the wider Swiss travel experience with a Swiss Travel Pass.
