As fields of yellow canola transform the landscape in Cowra, more dates have been added for the signature ‘Fields of Gold’ guided tours of the region this Spring.
With three experiences on offer across the Wiradjuri countryside, visitors can choose from a bus tour, joy flight or hot air balloon ride, to see the canola. If you can’t decide, do them all over a weekend!
Cowra’s canola season tours:
- The two-hour ‘Fields of Gold’ guided bus tours offer photo opportunities at canola hot spots and ends with a local wine tasting. They run on weekends from 9am to 4pm from the end of August until October from the Cowra Visitor Information Centre. Cost $55pp.
- The ‘Scenic Canola Flights’ with Fly Oz offer a dazzling view of the canola from a plane, including Wyangala Dam and Canowindra. Cost from $195pp for 30mins.
- The magical ‘Balloon Joy Flight’ takes you up in a hot air balloon at sunrise which floats across the canola fields and the picturesque Belubula Valley. Cost $340 for an hour and finishes with a champagne breakfast at Montrose House. What a way to start the day.
Cowra is ideal for a short break in the great outdoors this Spring with the Cowra Japanese Garden & Cultural Centre, the famous Cowra Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom) Festival in September, sustainable wines and world-famous Cowra Lamb.
A variety of accommodation includes Everview Retreat cottages, Montrose House B&B, glamping at La Paloma Farm, Keswick Cottage, DC’s Madra Country Accommodation, The Shearing Shed Farmstay, or hotels and motels.
Cowra Tourism also expressed the importance of safety when canola touring. “We ask that our visitors be mindful that canola fields are on private property and are not to be entered. The best way to capture that instagram worthy shot is by booking a Canola Tour.” said Kurt Overzet, Cowra Tourism Manager.
Visitors should take care when driving on roads and highways, ensuring they take care when driving and parking as they enjoy Cowra’s stunning landscapes.
