Melco Resorts & Entertainment (Melco) and Women’s General Association of Macau (Women’s Association) today co-hosted the annual Best Mom Award Ceremony at Studio City, paying tribute to maternal love, promoting positive family values and providing a platform through which the community can show gratitude and appreciation towards women and motherhood. The event continues to underline the Melco Women’s Initiatives’ message of ‘Best I Can Be’, which encourages women to embrace life’s choices and to bring out the best in oneself.

The event’s guests of honor included Mr. Lawrence Ho, Chairman & CEO of Melco; Ms. Lau Kam Ling, Chairwoman of Women’s General Association of Macau; Mr. Yu Hui, Senior Assistant Director of the Social Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Wong Kin Mou, Acting Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau; Ms. Lei Lai Peng, Head of the Department of Family and Community Services of the Social Welfare Bureau; Ms. Un Sio Leng, President of Women’s General Association of Macau; Ms. Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to Chairman and CEO of Melco; Dr. Raymond Lo, Senior Vice President, Property General Manager of Altira Macau & Mocha Clubs; Mr. Ma Io Fong, Member of the Legislative Council of Macau and President of Friends of Women Association of Macau; Ms. Zhang Yanhua, President of Zhaoqing Women’s Federation; Ms. Li Hui, Vice President of Zhuhai Women’s Federation; Ms. Carol Yau, Vice Chairperson of Hong Kong Federation of Women; Ms. Yang Hua, Level 1 Consultant of Shenzhen Women’s Association; and Ms. Ieong Pui Ian, Deputy Secretary-General of The Chinese Educators Association of Macau.

Since launching in 2019, Best Mom Award has been warmly welcomed by the community. This year’s event received close to 200 nominations, topping those of previous years.

Best Mom Award 2023 saw the addition of two new award categories, including ‘Life Nurturer’ and ‘Boundless Maternal Love’ awards. The new categories commend the contribution of mothers with multiple children who are able to maintain positive relationships within the family, and recognize mothers’ with special needs children for their generosity and selflessness which positively impacts society.

And, as in previous years, 10 Best Mom Excellence Award winners were recognized and awarded while Merit Awards were presented to 20 runner-up Best Moms. Consolation Prizes were also granted to 40 highly commended applicants. The winning Best Moms shared their inspiring stories with the audience, and a special sharing session on “Skills for promoting positive family relationships” was presented to help the audience better understand ways to enhance harmony within the home.

During the event, Melco and Women’s Association also announced that next year, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region, Best Mom Award will be extended to reach a further ten cities within the Greater Bay Area, including Hong Kong, Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Huizhou, Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Foshan and Zhaoqing.

We have been co-organizing the Best Mom Award since 2019, receiving a collective total of 648 Best Mom nominations. The Women’s Association will continue to uphold our purpose of caring for women and children, serving the community, as we strive to create a trustworthy and reliable ‘home for women’. We look forward further cooperating with organizations from the community together with our sister cities of the Greater Bay Area to provide more diverse and meaningful services and activities, jointly promote the development of women and children, and to create a positive, healthy and harmonious home for all.”
