The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA Australia) presents the premiere of a new shadow play by artist Jumaadi.  A free performance event, this Friday 25 August 2023, 6:30–7:15pm and 8–8:45pm.

Contemplate the water and those whose journeys depend on it in The sea is still a mystery (2023), a shadow play by MCA Collection artist Jumaadi.
In this live performance, Jumaadi combines the Indonesian art of wayang – a traditional form of puppet theatre – with Javanese folklore and a music composition by co-director Michael Toisuta.

This event is part of Performances on the Quay, a free performance art series jointly presented by the MCA Australia and the Sydney Opera House (SOH). Experience Lauren Brincat’s experimental art project, Tutti Presto ff,  from 5.15pm on the SOH Forecourt, then make your way to the MCA for Jumaadi’s performances at 6.30pm and 8pm.
