Tasmania’s leading luxury lodge Saffire Freycinet has revealed a new guest experience, ‘Seafood and Sparkling Cruise’ combining sustainably produced seafood for which the region is renowned and curated by Palate at Saffire, with a guided tasting of specially selected, vintage sparkling wines from Jansz Tasmania.

Celebrating a partnership of Tasmania’s fine food and wine, Saffire Freycinet’s new Seafood and Sparkling Cruise experience is enjoyed onboard the lodge’s luxury vessel, Saffire over the course of a leisurely afternoon along the breathtaking Freycinet coastline.ฃ

The luxury sparkling wine house Jansz Tasmania embodies the essence of Tasmania and its respect for the natural wilderness, its ancient soils and untamed oceans, allowing premium sparkling wines to be created according to its unique style, ‘Méthode Tasmanoise’.

The half-day culinary event is exclusively available for Saffire Freycinet guests and forms part of the luxury lodge’s program of Signature Experiences which may be booked at an additional rate.

The Seafood and Sparkling Cruise experience is an exclusive way for guests to take in the beauty of the pink-hued Hazards Mountains, the coastline’s beaches with pure white sand and turquoise waters, whilst enjoying  the spoils of the region’s fine, fresh seafood and sparkling wine. This intimate experience effortlessly combines a wilderness expedition with a culinary adventure.

Anchored in a magical location aboard the lodge’s own purpose-built vessel, Saffire, guests sip on a flight of three exceptional limited release vintages from Jansz Tasmania specially selected for guests onboard: the Pontos Hills Vintage Cuvée 2018; the Late Disgorged Vintage Cuvée 2015 and the Single Vineyard Vintage Chardonnay 2018.

A perfect accompaniment to this sparkling tasting experience is a showcase of sustainably produced Tasmanian seafood, sourced fresh from the ocean to the Palate team at Saffire Freycinet. Seasonal gourmet offerings on the cruise include succulent Stanley Bay scallops paired with Granny Smith apple, pickled West Coast octopus with local wasabi and crisp leek, Tasmanian trout roe accompanied by compressed cucumber and crème fraiche, Pacific Gold oysters complemented with native Tasmanian pepper berry vinaigrette, and a black lip abalone skewer accentuated with radish.

Saffire Freycinet General Manager Patrick Barrie said the Seafood and Sparkling Cruise was a chance for guests to celebrate the breathtaking beauty and abundant treasures of Tasmania.

“We’re so pleased to reveal a culinary adventure of this calibre that really showcases the essence of Tasmania: its untamed wilderness, pristine environment and cracking sustainable produce,” Mr Barrie said.

“On Saffire’s doorstep lies crayfish, abalone, scallops, sea urchin, oysters – all perfect accompaniments to a crisp Tasmanian sparkling. It doesn’t get much better than that for our guests,” he said.

Jansz Tasmania winemaker Jennifer Doyle added, “This is a wonderful opportunity for Jansz Tasmania to partner with Saffire Freycinet and introduce guests visiting the state to our exceptional vintage releases.”

“These are limited releases of our finest sparkling, and we hope guests will fall in love with Tasmanian wine and our Méthode Tasmanoise,” she said.
