Snow has started falling all the way down to the village with more in the forecast for all of next week as Thredbo heads into its biggest weekend of the season. Thredbo’s 3-Day Rainbow Mountain Festival kicks off today, the Banked Slalom is on tomorrow and First Base presented by Canadian Club is taking over Alpine Bar on Saturday night plus a brand-new Range Rover House Experience begins tomorrow until August 20.
Mother Nature has come to the party with snow beginning to fall all the way down to the village at Thredbo Resort this morning with lots more snow and cold temperatures in the forecast for all of next week.
Thredbo Brand and Marketing Manager Richie Carroll said that the timing couldn’t be better as the resort gears up for its biggest events weekend of the season.
“There is an air of excitement in the resort ahead of this weekend’s events and this morning’s snowfall has further added to the electric atmosphere. We can’t wait for our guests to experience an incredible weekend on-and-off the mountain with the exciting weather forecast combined with the non-stop line-up of world-class events that we are offering all weekend,” said Mr Carroll.
The fresh dusting of snow has gotten skiers and snowboarders excited for upcoming conditions with snowfall expected to continue throughout all of next week. This week, suitable snowmaking conditions allowed for up to 162 snowmaking guns to fire from Monday to Thursday, topping up the runs on the lower mountain. Colder temperatures are expected to remain throughout the next week, with the forecast showing a low of minus five degrees next Monday.
This Weekend’s Event Schedule
August 10 – 12 | Rainbow Mountain
Celebrating diversity, inclusivity, visibility, community and love, Thredbo’s famous pride festival is making its return this weekend and it’s set to be bigger than ever. This three day festival is packed with on-and-off snow events including an on-mountain cocktail party, non-stop après, a huge live concert, a champagne lunch and more. August 11 | Transfer Banked Slalom
The 9th Annual Transfer Banked Slalom is back tomorrow! This race holds a special place in the hearts of snowboarders around the country. Rekindling competitive rivalries between friends and foe alike, this race brings out the need for speed with a side of fun. All snowboarders are encouraged to enter as the creative course caters to intermediate to advanced abilities ranging with a huge stack of prizes to be won.
August 11 & 12 | Big Deck Energy presented by Canadian Club
Black Sallees has become the ultimate on-mountain après destination this winter thanks to our new Big Deck Energy DJ sessions presented by Canadian Club on select afternoons. This Friday and Saturday, get warmed up for a fun night ahead with groovy tunes, cold beverages and a delicious new Japanese-inspired menu.
August 12 | First Base ft. Poof Doof
Returning for another flamboyant First Base, the Poof Doof DJs are set to cap off a fabulous Rainbow Mountain weekend at Alpine Bar this Saturday night. The now-famous First Base presented by Canadian Club events are the jewel in the crown of Thredbo’s après calendar where guests can dance under the fireworks to some of Australia’s hottest music acts.
August 10 – 20 | Range Rover House
Thredbo is excited to have partnered with Land Rover to unveil a brand-new Range Rover House experience. Running from tomorrow until August 20, this curated activation will see the luxurious Rockpool Lodge taken over to give guests the opportunity to partake in Range Rover Sport Experience Drives before relaxing in the lodge. After driving through beautiful alpine roads and hitting the slopes, attendees can embrace the après ski lifestyle with wellness programs such as sound healing, breathwork, saunas, cold water immersion and more.
