In an unprecedented response to skyrocketing demand, Qantas, Australia’s largest airline, has announced the addition of over 60 new flights to its schedule between Sydney and Melbourne. This move is poised to facilitate significant interstate and trans-Tasman travel for music lovers rushing to concert venues during the high-demand season of February 2024.
This Qantas flight service surge is set to be operational between the 15th and 27th of February 2024, bolstering its fleet with over 11,000 extra seats. Concert enthusiasts can book their travel arrangements immediately and enjoy the upgraded services. The bolstered flight operations will include 24 routes between Sydney and Melbourne, 20 from Sydney/Melbourne to Adelaide, six from Sydney to Perth, eight from Sydney/Melbourne to Christchurch, and eight more to Wellington from Sydney/Melbourne.
These comprehensive arrangements have been made following a jaw-dropping 1500 per cent surge in domestic bookings last week. This unprecedented spike coincided with the release of pre-sale and general sale tickets, compared to the same period in the previous year.
Qantas isn’t just limited to air travel, it has also taken measures to ensure concert attendees can afford their dream musical adventure. The Classic Flight Reward program is available during the concert weeks, allowing fans to make a one-way trip to Sydney or Melbourne for as little as 8,000 Qantas Points (plus taxes, fees, and carrier charges).
But that’s not all – the airline has also extended its reward program to cover accommodations. Concertgoers can redeem their Qantas Points for discounted stays in Melbourne and Sydney via Qantas Hotels and Qantas Holidays. Those who book accommodations through Qantas Hotels or Holidays by the end of July 2023 can win a grand prize of 1 million Qantas Points annually for the next 20 years. For more information, visit the Qantas Hotels or Qantas Holidays websites.
In the words of a Qantas spokesperson, “Our forward bookings showed a swift rise in demand for flights to Sydney and Melbourne next February, witnessing a 1500 per cent increase in domestic bookings last week compared to the same period last year. Adding 60 new flights interstate and trans-Tasman will make it easier for ticketholders to travel to Sydney and Melbourne, turning their wildest dreams into reality. Our lowest fares are known to sell out quickly, so our advice for any concertgoers is to book as soon as possible.”
Qantas’s swift response to this exponential rise in demand is a testament to the brand’s commitment to enhancing customer experience, all while supporting the thriving music scene.
