Global AirlinesIn an ambitious stride forward, Global Airlines, the latest entrant in the long-haul aviation market, announced the acquisition of three additional A380 aircraft, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s fleet development. With the latest purchases, the fleet now boasts four A380 super jumbos, signifying a bolstered start for operations in Spring 2024.

Negotiated for an undisclosed amount, the acquisition enhances the operational capacities of Global Airlines. The acquired A380s are slated for a comprehensive refit and are scheduled to return to service after the extensive refurbishment. More insights into the acquisition, aircraft specifications, and refurbishment plans are set to be released in the forthcoming months.

While the fleet expansion signals the company’s robust growth strategy, Global Airlines has simultaneously announced the appointment of industry veterans Captain Ian Black and Pierre Madrange to its Advisory Board. These new appointments will lend their extensive expertise to the Global Executive Team on a broad spectrum of aviation, technical, and commercial matters.

Pierre Madrange, a former French Air Force fighter pilot, carries an illustrious career featuring positions such as the Chief Operating Officer at XL Airways and the Managing Director at SR Technics. As a former Vice President of NAVBLUE, an Airbus company, Madrange is expected to bring his significant industry experience and leadership acumen to Global Airlines.

On the other hand, Captain Ian Black is a decorated commercial and former military pilot, boasting extensive long-haul flying experience across geographies spanning the Far East, Australasia, India, Dubai, and Europe. Having served as a senior captain on the Airbus/Boeing fleet for a leading UK long-haul airline for over 25 years, Black’s appointment brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to the advisory board.

In welcoming the new board members, James Asquith, Founder and CEO of Global Airlines, expressed delight in the growing assembly of aviation professionals. He stated, “It is a real testament to the progress we are making that we continue to appoint senior and experienced people to our Advisory Board. I believe we must have one of the most experienced teams of aviation professionals coming together to launch Global Airlines.”

Capitalising on the unrivalled spaciousness offered by the A380 super jumbo, Global Airlines aims to reimagine the flying experience. The company focuses on cooperating closely with the relevant authorities and partners in preparation for the inaugural flights scheduled for Spring 2024.

Launched in 2023, Global Airlines was founded to redefine how people travel. The airline is a wholly owned subsidiary of Holiday Swap, led by CEO James Asquith. Backed by global aviation experts and investors, the airline embarked on an aircraft acquisition program with the first A380 secured in the summer of 2023, and more additions to the fleet are expected soon. The inaugural transatlantic flights are anticipated in the Spring of 2024.
