Son Bunyola Hotel - TerraceThe luxury hospitality industry has a thrilling new addition – Virgin Limited Edition’s recently inaugurated Son Bunyola Hotel. This spectacular resort, nestled within the Tramuntana Mountains of Mallorca, is already making waves as a beautiful vacation spot for those seeking unparalleled comfort and opulence.

Marking the grand entry of Sir Richard Branson’s latest creation into the world, Son Bunyola Hotel breathes new life into a 16th-century Mallorcan Finca, carefully restored to its original glory. Its transformation into the island’s latest luxury hotspot results from Branson’s decades-long affection for Mallorca and his commitment to spotlighting its stunning landscape and heritage.

“Today is a momentous day as we open our beautiful hotel, Son Bunyola. The northwest coast of Mallorca has long held a very special place in my heart,” stated Branson, Founder of the Virgin Group.

The refurbished finca is nestled on a remarkable 1,300-acre property brimming with olive groves, vineyards, and citrus fruit trees, with a great three miles of Mediterranean coastline. The idyllic setting of Son Bunyola also includes 26 impeccably designed rooms and suites, reflecting the local Mallorcan charm and aesthetics of famed interior designer Rialto Living.

Notably, the hotel’s architectural design is the brainchild of local architect Gras, who successfully integrated the main finca, the Tafona, and several annex buildings into a cohesive architectural masterpiece.

Showcasing the finca’s historical character are two unique Tower Suites with breathtaking mountain and sea views, one of which was once a 13th-century Medieval defense tower. A part of the property’s history has been preserved in the Tafona, where the historic olive press was located, now home to two stunning suites with terraces.

Adding to the hotel’s allure are two top-notch restaurants – a Mediterranean and a tapas restaurant – all under the expertise of renowned Executive Chef Samuel G. Galdón. Additionally, outdoor dining terraces and a comprehensive wellness program, including yoga sessions and historical walks around the UNESCO World Heritage Site, provide ample opportunities for relaxation and exploration.

The heritage-rich Son Bunyola estate dates back to the 1500s, with the oldest part of the building dating back to the 13th century. Traces of Bronze and Iron Age civilizations can also be found scattered across the estate, offering a rich historical narrative to the grounds.

“We’re so grateful for all of the support we’ve had from our local partners that have helped make today possible,” said Vincent Padioleau, General Manager of Son Bunyola Hotel and Villas.

This exciting project is the first European hotel for Virgin Limited Edition, which boasts an impressive portfolio of some of the world’s most exclusive private islands and award-winning safari lodges. The much-anticipated opening of Son Bunyola Hotel further cements its reputation as a leader in luxury travel experiences.

Guests can now book their stay at Son Bunyola Hotel, with rates starting from 600 Euros per room per night on a bed and breakfast basis. Branson said, “This is just the beginning for Son Bunyola and its wonderful team, and I cannot wait to welcome you here and share it with you.”
