Berlin, Germany – On July 6th and 7th, over 800 esteemed professionals worldwide from the tourism and events industry will convene at the highly anticipated Bestival. With the honourable presence of Senator for Economic Affairs Franziska Giffey, the event promises to be a remarkable exchange of ideas and insights. Boasting an extensive array of offerings encompassing MICE and the tourism industry, sustainability, lifestyle and culture, community, and innovation, Berlin is set to dazzle attendees at the Best Practice Festival.
Now in its third edition, Bestival aims to establish a perfect fusion of Berlin’s business and festival realms. Its primary objective is fostering personal connections, sharing experiences, and exploring new prospects in the vibrant city. Packed with captivating lectures, interactive workshops, engaging panel discussions, and electrifying live performances, participants can expect an immersive experience that transcends expectations.
Sustainability, a key theme of Bestival 2023, underscores the event’s commitment to eco-conscious planning and execution. In collaboration with visitBerlin, visitBerlin Partner Hotels, BEN Berlin Event Network, INTOURA, and all associated service providers, Bestival offers firsthand encounters with green event practices. This firsthand experience will be available in early June at two iconic locations: the historic “Magazin in der Heeresbäckerei” and the picturesque SAGE Beach.
A Diverse Lineup of Influential Speakers and an Enthralling World of Experiences.
Over 50 influential speakers and nearly 160 partner companies will grace Bestival, sparking invigorating discussions on emerging industry trends. Furthermore, the festival’s flexible program allows participants to tailor their experience based on their interests. Bestival presents five distinct worlds of experiences, each reflecting a unique facet of Berlin: “Berlin Sustainable,” “Berlin Lifestyle,” “Berlin Culture,” “Berlin Community,” and “Berlin Innovation.” These immersive environments will host thought-provoking lectures, dynamic panel talks, and captivating live acts.
The Knowledge Hub at the prestigious “Magazin in der Heeresbäckerei” will commence on July 6th with two inspiring keynotes. Dr Prateep Beed from the Charité & Mind Foundation and Felix Rundel from Futurehain will delve into the intriguing “Science of Rave.” Renowned influencer and management expert Lunia Hara will captivate the audience with her keynote, “Why You Should Know Your Value Biography.” Noteworthy speakers include Dina Padalkina from Circular Berlin, Heinrich Carstens from POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair, Dr Katharina Reuter from the German Sustainable Business Association, Matthias Schultze from the German Convention Bureau, and Thomas Hoff Andersson from BER Airport. The evening event at the illustrious SAGE Club, featuring networking opportunities, live music, and a DJ, will be inaugurated by Berlin’s esteemed Senator for Economic Affairs, Franziska Giffey. The festival’s second day, July 7th, revolves around “All of Berlin,” inviting participants to explore the capital’s diverse offerings through discovery tours, site inspections, and partner events. The day culminates in the “Lange Nacht der Hotels” (Long Night of the Hotels), providing an ideal platform for further idea exchange.
Greening Berlin’s Tourism and Event Industry: Bestival’s Noble Cause.
Bestival truly lives up to its name as a best-practice festival, with a firm commitment to sustainability ingrained in every aspect of the event. The conceptualization, organization, and execution of this two-day extravaganza revolve around environmentally conscious practices. The sustainability strategy aligns with the criteria established by the “Sustainable Meetings Berlin” initiative of the visitBerlin Convention Office and adheres to the ISO 20121 standard for sustainable event management. To illustrate their dedication, Bestival has partnered with certified provider “Atmosfair” to ensure complete CO2 compensation by the Gold Standard. All service providers, including those within their supply chain, prioritize ecological practices and diligently measure and document their emissions. Additionally, the catering at Bestival will be exclusively vegetarian/vegan, reflecting the event’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. Bestival’s ultimate aim is to become a climate-neutral industry gathering in the long run, and they have already taken a significant step towards this goal. This year, Bestival will undergo certification according to the ISO standard 20121, with the first part of the audit successfully completed during the preparation phase. The final audit will take place directly at the event venue.
