During the month of August, guests embarking on the three-day Maria Island Walk will culminate their journey on the breathtaking shores of Maria Island, just a short ferry ride off Tasmania’s eastern coast. Here, they will savour a two-hour-long lunch at Van Bone, helmed by Executive Chef Tim Hardy and restaurant manager Laura Stucken. Van Bone has gained acclaim for its intimate dining experience, which beautifully encapsulates the essence of Tasmania. Drawing inspiration from the picturesque landscapes, the collaborative set menu offers an extraordinary fusion of flavours, showcasing the region’s unusual ingredients. Guests will indulge in a leisurely two-hour lunch featuring multiple courses paired with exquisite Tasmanian sparkling white and red wine, culminating with tea or coffee.

“This partnership exemplifies the Wild Bush Luxury ethos of creating distinctive local experiences for our guests. After experiencing the wonders of Tasmania’s pristine landscape during the Maria Island Walk, our guests will be treated to an intimate dining experience at Van Bone, where they can relish in fabulous local cuisine amidst the rolling hills of Marion Bay,” shared Amanda Byrne, General Manager of Wild Bush Luxury, the owner and operator of The Maria Island Walk.

The Weekend Winter Escape Walk is scheduled for two exclusive dates in August: Friday, 4th to Sunday, 6th August 2023 and Friday, 11th to Sunday, 13th August 2023. Limited to just ten participants, this unique experience commences with a morning departure from Hobart, followed by a scenic 90-minute drive to Triabunna and a half-hour ferry crossing to Maria Island, providing breathtaking views.

Over the course of the three-day adventure, guests will partake in daily walks, conquer mountain summits, and have close encounters with the island’s diverse wildlife, including wombats, Cape Barren Geese, and the elusive Tasmanian Devils, which thrive as a protected population of the isle. Exploring the island’s rich history is also on the itinerary, with remnants of its past scattered across the landscape, contributing to its designation as a World Heritage Convict Site.

“This marks our second exciting collaboration with Laura, who recently redesigned the heritage-listed Bernacchi House, serving as our accommodation for the final night of our summer walk series and both nights of our Winter Escape Walk,” added Byrne.

Pricing for the Weekend Winter Escape Walk starts at $1,990 per person for twin-share accommodation or $3,315 per person for single occupancy.
