The reimagined hotel rooms will offer guests a moment of mindfulness and tranquillity in Auckland CBDFollowing its recent unveiling, JW Marriott Auckland offers an exclusive preview of its newly transformed guest rooms, the first stage in a NZ$25M refurbishment project. A project designed to blend Marriott’s signature luxury with elements of New Zealand’s rich nature, it represents a significant investment in the country’s tourism industry.

Under the aesthetic direction of globally renowned interior design studio O37, the refurbished rooms exude a modern sophistication that harmonises the hotel’s existing features with JW Marriott’s luxurious brand ethos. This transformation is guided by the principle of mindfulness, a cornerstone of JW Marriott’s philosophy, offering luxury travellers a stunning and invigorating retreat.

The room’s unique design is the fruit of a concept termed “beautiful collisions”, centred around the intersection of old and new elements. Achieving a tranquil living space through the interweaving of contrasting textures, the rooms showcase a perfect balance of raw and refined influences. Inspired by New Zealand’s nature, each room offers an unforgettable sensory experience and an escape to tranquillity.

Sean Hunt, Area Vice President Australia, New Zealand and Pacific at Marriott International, expressed his enthusiasm about the hotel’s transformation. “The new room designs encapsulate our brand DNA, mirroring the legacy of our founder J. Willard Marriott’s vision of holistic well-being and mindfulness,” Hunt said. This concept encourages guests to immerse themselves wholly, being present to fully appreciate the Auckland experience.

The JW Marriott Auckland marks the iconic brand’s first property in New Zealand. Strategically nestled in the heart of Auckland’s CBD, the hotel boasts spacious, sunlit rooms and a comprehensive range of amenities. These offerings aim to uplift guests’ mind, body and spirit, providing an immersive, elevated experience amidst the bustling city life.

“We are incredibly excited to bring the room design concepts to life at the new JW Marriott Auckland,” said Girish Talreja, General Manager of JW Marriott Auckland. He highlighted the collaborative efforts with Leonard from O37 and Dinesh Pandey from the hotel’s owning company CP Group, that have led to this milestone in creating modern luxury and serenity for guests.

Currently, the JW Marriott Auckland features 286 rooms with brand-new JW signature beds and smart TVs equipped with Chromecast. Among these, 40 rooms are slated for transformation by September, with reservations opening soon after. In an ongoing commitment to luxury, the hotel is set to refurbish each floor sequentially, with all renovations projected for completion by mid-2024.

Further enhancement to the hotel includes a full renovation of the all-day dining restaurant, meeting rooms, and lobby area. To top it off, the hotel’s upper floor houses a fitness centre, spa, sauna and indoor heated swimming pool, providing guests with unrivalled views of the CBD and the majestic Auckland Harbour Bridge.

Offering insight into the design concept, Leonard Lee, Founder & Creative Director at O37, drew inspiration from a poet’s love story set in Auckland. “The idea was to infuse Auckland’s nature, culture, art and music into every aspect of the property. This captures both the old and new with the ‘beautiful collisions’ concept,” Lee elaborated.

With its promise of a reimagined luxury hospitality experience, JW Marriott Auckland is ready to welcome both local and international guests into its stunning embrace.
