Singapore Airlines (SIA) today confirmed work had begun on a new SilverKris Lounge at Perth International Airport and unveiled plans for the new Lounge, which delivers customers more space, enhanced facilities, and a range of new dining options.
This follows the completion of a SGD$50 million dollar refurbishment of the flagship SilverKris Lounge in Changi Airport Terminal 3 last year.
The new lounge, which is scheduled to open by the end of the year, will be centrally located in the International Departure terminal opposite Gate 52, providing convenient access to all international boarding gates in the transit area.
Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Mr. Louis Arul, said investing in a new lounge for Perth reinforced SIA’s commitment to Western Australia.
“We launched our services to Perth in 1967 and since then we’ve invested in and grown our operations to support the West Australian region,” Mr. Arul said.
“Building a brand-new lounge in Perth will deliver an enhanced travel experience and reinforces our commitment to the Perth market.
“The decision to acquire a new space to build the lounge allows us to minimise the disruption to our customers during the development phase and once work is complete, allows for a seamless transition to the new space.
“I’d like to extend a sincere thanks to the team at Perth Airport who have worked closely with us to bring this project to life, and we look forward to welcoming customers to the new lounge before the end of the year.”
The new SilverKris lounge will be more than double the size of the current Lounge, which opened on 21 December 2006 and will be able to accommodate almost 140 customers at a time.
A larger buffet area inclusive of a live cooking station and full bar will be a feature of the lounge, providing an opportunity to offer a wider selection of freshly prepared food and beverages to travellers throughout the day. The new lounge will also include shower facilities.
The design of the new lounge will continue with the refreshed “Home Away from Home” concept while taking elements from the recently completed Flagship SilverKris Lounge in Singapore and guests can look forward to distinct personal spaces that provide a sense of ‘being home’.
Each space has been designed to suit every need, from the living room, bar, and expanded dining rooms to private coves for rest and relaxation. Customers will also have the option of focusing on work in one of several specially designed productivity pods, providing them with a private and comfortable workspace before their flight.
Customers travelling in Business Class or are members of the PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold, Virgin Australia Velocity Beyond, Platinum and Gold card members departing on Singapore Airlines operated flights as well as STAR Alliance Gold members travelling on STAR Alliance member carrier operated flights will be able to access the Lounge.
Today’s unveiling follows the announcement last month that Perth will welcome an additional four flights a week with the introduction of SQ213 and SQ226 between 24 November 2023 and 14 January 2024, taking the total number of Singapore Airlines flights between Perth and Singapore to 25 a week, providing additional seats for the holiday travel period.
SQ213 will depart Changi Airport at 07:40 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Perth the same day at 12:55. The return flight SQ226 from Perth to Singapore, will depart at 14:10, arriving Changi Airport at 19:30.
The additional four-times weekly services will be operated by SIA’s A350-900 medium-haul aircraft delivering 40 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout and 263 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout.
