W Sydney’s futuristic ‘Ribbon’ architecture looks out over the water, a centrepiece of the Darling Harbour precinct, with interior design embodying the curious and creative spirit of Sydney and NSW. Ahead of its October 2023 opening, the hotel has commenced the search for its ‘Insider’, a role unique to W Hotels that focuses on connecting guests with unforgettable experiences and the pulse of the city. It is one of the many ways that W delivers its Whatever/Whenever™ service culture, alongside exceptional design.

So, who is the W Insider? Says Craig Seaward, General Manager of W Sydney, “The W Insider is a charismatic, in-the-know individual whose number one responsibility is to elevate and animate a W stay or visit. Our mission at W Hotels is to ‘Ignite Curiosity and Expand Worlds’, and we see the W insider as sitting at the centre of that journey.”

The W Insider’s role is focused on key elements of the guest experience: connecting guests with information on local events and activations, establishing relationships with restaurants, bars, local attractions, and communities, as well as providing recommendations and arranging programming for guests as required. They contribute to the hotel’s social media content, collaborate on media opportunities, and organise and host Insider Collective gatherings.

According to Seaward, the W Insider may well come from a background outside hotels and hospitality. “It’s a mindset,” he explains. “The W Insider will be someone tapped into the culture and tempo of the city, who wants to own the experience for each guest. Approachable, attentive, and magnetic, they set the beat of a guest stay. Music, nightlife, fashion, food, and design; it all sits within the W Insider’s scope.”

Talent lies at the heart of bringing the W brand to life, and the Insider recruitment is a key milestone in the lead-up to the hotel’s opening. It will be followed by W Sydney’s major Talent Casting Day, to be held on 25 July at a design venue in Sydney.
