Australia’s newest luxury destination – The Langham, Gold Coast – is delighted to announce the appointment of Executive Pastry Chef, Johann Vanier: the culinary artist drawing inspiration from his French heritage to present a delectable ‘Taste of France’ afternoon tea experience, available from June 1,2023.
The afternoon tea will be hosted in The Langham’s highly acclaimed Palm Court and features a rich tapestry of French gastronomy, made with the finest locally-sourced Australian ingredients to offer a selection of sweet and savoury desserts.
John O’Shea, General Manager, The Langham, Gold Coast said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Chef Johann’s remarkable expertise and innovative approach to the art of pastry-making.
“The Langham brand has become synonymous with the tradition of afternoon tea, since it was first served at The Langham London in 1865, and the arrival of Chef Johann will elevate the experience with the craftsmanship of French Patisserie.
“Chef Johann has honed and built his culinary knowledge under the tutelage of some of the world’s finest Michelin-starred French restaurants, and we’re excited to bring this level of sophistication to our heritage afternoon tea offering, said O’Shea”
Guests can expect to be mesmerised by the presentation of four signature French savoury and sweet desserts that offer a unique twist of Australian ingredients, said Johann Vanier, Executive Pastry Chef, The Langham, Gold Coast.
“My personal recommendation is the Tarte Tatin: the new interpretation of the quintessential French dessert is made using Queensland pineapples, nestled in a buttery pastry shell, as opposed to the traditional French recipe made using apples.
“For those looking to indulge in more savoury flavours, the Croque Madame offers a sophisticated twist on the classic French sandwich, combining the rich and nutty flavour of Heidi Gruyere cheese with layers of creamy bechamel sauce, while a perfectly cooked, sunnyside-up quail egg cascades over lightly toasted bread, said Chef Johann.
The ‘Taste of France’ afternoon tea experience with Johann Vanier will run throughout the month of June, with a limited number of seatings available each day and prices set at $109 per person weekdays and $119 weekends. The sittings will be hosted between 2pm – 5pm
with last sittings taking place at 4pm.
