Memphis Tourism successfully gave Melbourne and Sydney a taste of the city of blues, soul and rock n roll last week, hosting two packed events that showcased some of the sounds that the city is famous for. Bringing together hundreds of party-loving people from across travel trade, the industry, and the media, the two Memphis Tourism events proved that business and pleasure most certainly do mix, with tastes of Memphis on offer via a southern style menu, free-flowing drinks, and true Memphis sounds.
Those in attendance were treated to an update about all that the city of Memphis has to offer, including the impending launch of Vonlane’s luxury coach transfer service which kicks off later this month. Touted as a private jet on wheels, the 22-seater offers bar service, in-transit entertainment and a level of service that screams luxury. With multiple new hotel openings, a burgeoning dining scene, and the 20th anniversary of the legendary Stax Museum, 2023 is proving to be a big year for Memphis. United Airlines also provided insight into their rapidly increasing local services, including a one-stop flight from Australia’s east coast through to Memphis. And with Australia now ranking as the third largest international feeder market to the destination, easier access is welcome news to many.
Ahead of their appearance at Blues on Broadbeach, Marcus Scott and the Bo-Keys also took to the stage in both cities, wowing guests with their cool Memphis style and Scott’s incredible vocal skills. Legends of the Memphis music scene, the authentic sounds of the city reverberated throughout the venues as guests took to the dancefloor.
Chris Ingram, Director of Memphis Tourism Australia and New Zealand said, “We are thrilled with the turnout and response to our recent industry events. The city of Memphis has so much soul, and I think Marcus Scott and the Bo-Keys brought that in spades. The ongoing support of Australia’s travel industry community plays a huge role in continuing to position Memphis as such a desirable destination, so it was great to come together to celebrate this great city and to give people a taste of true Memphis hospitality.”
