The heritage-listed, NSW outback town of Broken Hill and the surrounding desert are filled with intrigue, character and raw beauty and to help visitors experience the region’s many charms, Out of the Ordinary Outback has launched a new package that includes three tours and three nights at the company’s flagship property, Broken Hill Outback Resort.
The special, four-day ‘Discover Broken Hill’ adventure package is available on selected dates from June to September, 2023, and offers savings of $225 per couple and $160 for solo travellers.
Broken Hill boasts character-filled pubs, cafes, hilltop sculptures, art galleries, space observatories, indigenous culture and rugged outback scenery and is an ideal destination for road trips, train journeys or flights from cities like Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
Fusing nature and comfort and nestled amongst red dunes 13km east of Broken Hill in far west NSW, Broken Hill Outback Resort offers deluxe, self-contained cabins with expansive decks, king beds and spa baths overlooking the ochre sands of the surrounding desert, all grouped around a historic pub completely restored by Out of the Ordinary Outback to offer a bar and bistro restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. A firepit also allows guests to toast marshmallows under starry, desert skies.
Out of the Ordinary Outback’s new stay and tour package includes three nights in a deluxe king spa cabin at Broken Hill Outback Resort, with a free upgrade to a king spa cabin (if available), daily breakfast, welcome bottle of wine and a resort dining discount voucher.
One full day tour and two half-day tours are also included with local, premium tour company, Overland Adventures, so visitors can see and learn more of Broken Hill in comfort and style. Guests can choose from a full day tour to the rugged gorges and ancient rock art of Mutawintji National Park or a full-day exploring the beauty of the Menindee Lakes with its abundance of birdlife. Both tours include guides, morning tea and lunch.
One of the two half-day, guided tours showcases the many sights of Broken Hill, including its mining history, the retro-styled Bells Milk Bar, local lookouts, art galleries and the spectacular art sculptures that crown a nearby hill offering a sweeping panorama across the desert. The other half-day tour focuses on the dusty, almost deserted outpost of Silverton with its quirky pub, camel farm, Mad Max Museum, movie sites and views across the ever-stretching plains. More than 45 films and many TV shows and ads have been shot around Silverton, including ‘Mad Max 2’, ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert’ and ‘Wake in Fright’.
The four-day ‘Discover Broken Hill’ adventure package is available for $750 per person, twin-share – a saving of $225 from full price, and $995 for solo guests – a saving of $160. Dates are available between June and September, 2023. The package is subject to availability and conditions apply. There is no booking deadline.
