This week, Virtuoso®, the global network renowned for creating meaningful experiences in luxury travel, began its annual Symposium, bringing together 385 of the industry’s most prestigious professionals from 35 countries. Focused on thought leadership and networking at the highest level, Virtuoso’s Symposium attracts owners and managers from its travel agency members as well as top-level executives from the network’s preferred partners and fosters a collaborative environment for working through industry challenges and opportunities. Taking place May 17-21, Virtuoso’s Symposium features a thought-provoking General Session, both formal and informal networking events as well as ideation and breakout discussions.
Bonding through shared experiences in the destination is another hallmark of the event and this year Montréal, Québec is playing host, highlighting the relevance of international city stays amongst sophisticated travellers as well as the close ties the network shares with Canada as a premier destination. Participants will learn about the city through extraordinary events such as a gala evening at St. James Theatre as well as carefully designed explorations, from excursions highlighting Montréal’s culinary delights or its famed Cirque du Soleil headquarters to more active adventures by bike or scooter.
“Montréal was an inspired choice for this year’s Virtuoso Symposium,” says Virtuoso Senior Vice President, Network Products & Events Jennifer Campbell. “While most people know of Canada’s natural beauty, Montréal highlights a cultural and historical side of this amazing country. We know Symposium attendees, especially those experiencing Montréal for the first time, will come away with an appreciation for the charm, cuisine and traditions that make this exciting city so unique, and a strong desire to share their experiences with other travellers.”
“It’s such an honour to welcome Virtuoso executives to Montréal for this prestigious event. We are proud that Montréal has been a preferred Virtuoso destination since 2016,” said Yves Lalumière, president and CEO of Tourisme Montréal. “The idea of luxury travel has evolved a lot over the years; it’s no longer about labels or price tags, it’s about how travel makes you feel. Montréal truly embodies that kind of luxury, with unforgettable experiences that range from world-class gastronomy and culture to immersive art and outdoor adventures. Montréal has it all in a safe, welcoming and sustainable city.”
Virtuoso’s partnerships within a destination factor into its location selection and ultimately determine the success of the event. This year, support comes from host hotels Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, Ritz-Carlton Montréal, Le Mount Stephen and Four Seasons Hotel Montréal; as well as sponsors Abercrombie & Kent, Allianz Partners, Entrée Canada and Tourisme Montréal.
