Townsville’s tourism industry is set to be transformed with the unveiling of Ardo, the city’s first luxury hotel. Developed by family-owned tourism and hospitality leaders, Morris Group, the $88m development is ideally positioned on Townsville’s foreshore, overlooking the Coral Sea out to Magnetic Island.
Ardo is coming to market with 132 rooms and suites, the most boasting breathtaking sea views. The premium suites, positioned on the corners of the hotel, feature expansive balconies with 270-degree panoramic views. Eight rooms also feature baths on the balconies, which face directly out to the Coral Sea and Magnetic Island.
Morris Group Founder and Executive Chairman Chris Morris said Ardo would boost North Queensland’s tourism industry, creating desirability around Townsville as a destination worth visiting. “We know that North Queensland has so much to offer as a destination, so there is huge demand for domestic and international visitors to travel here,” Morris said. “But we’ve discovered there is still a gap in the market for luxury accommodation, so what we’re doing with Ardo is building on what we already do so well, providing another opportunity for high-end experiences in this extraordinary part of the world.”
The dining options at Ardo have been designed to sit at the top of Queensland’s culinary experiences list. The rooftop restaurant, Marmor, is inspired by the region’s world-class meat and seafood offerings focusing on contemporary Australian cuisine. On the stunning ground floor, a Japanese restaurant, Terasu, will present a lively take on traditional Japanese fare.
Ardo guests will also be able to use The Ville precinct’s amenities, which include the famous oceanside swimming pool with a swim-up bar, gym, and casino. Also nearby is the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre, which hosts various events, including concerts, sporting events, and musicals.
“While The Ville provides relaxed, tropical surroundings and casual sophistication, Ardo will offer a luxury accommodation experience for travelers seeking a more high-end stay,” said Morris. “With Ardo joining The Ville, and the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre on the Breakwater, what we’ve created will enhance the precinct, and become the region’s leisure and entertainment hub.”
Ardo is set to become part of Morris Group’s incredible network of resorts and adventure offerings. This includes the boutique Northern Escape Collection comprising Orpheus Island Lodge, Mt Mulligan Lodge, Beechmont Estate, Morris Nautical, a fleet of superyachts, M.Y Flying Fish and Beluga, and the soon-to-launch Pelorus Private Island.
Bookings for Ardo will open later this year, and the hotel is on track to open at the end of 2023. With its high-end accommodation, world-class dining, luxurious day spa, and stunning rooftop pool deck, Ardo is set to redefine North Queensland’s resort lifestyle and establish itself as a must-visit destination for luxury travellers.
