Tokyo has the highest concentration of tall buildings in Japan and this spring marks the opening of two significant new developments, the crowning glories of two very different important districts. Tokyo Midtown Yaseu, completes the redevelopment of the Tokyo Station area and Tokyu Kabukicho Tower gives the Kabukicho Itchome area of Shinjuku an incredible makeover. Both bold in scale, the developments are also high on style and sustainability. Boasting luxury international hotels, restaurants and bars, entertainment centres, shopping, offices and even robot cleaners, these multiplexes take chic to the peak!

Tokyo Midtown Yaesu

Just in front of Tokyo Station in the Yaesu district, Tokyo Midtown Yaesu is the third Midtown mutilplex in Tokyo developed by Mitsui Real Estate. The centrepiece of the complex is the Yaesu Central Tower, a 240 metre-tall skyscraper. The complex features the Yaesu Central Square and Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu. The grand opening of the impressive multiplex took place on 10 March 2023. The Yaesu Central Tower features 45 levels of offices, luxury accommodation and shops. The mixed-use tower connects to an underground shopping centre on the first basement level. Levels 4 and 5 are filled with business facilities and conference rooms. Office tenancies are located from levels 7 to 38.

Bulgari Hotel Tokyo
Yaesu Central Tower’s top levels, 40 to 45 are the home of the new Bulgari Hotel Tokyo. Bulgari’s first property in Japan with 98 rooms, it was officially opened on 4 April 2023. The hotel delivers on sweeping views of the city and is within easy walking distance of the Imperial Palace, Nihonbashi, Ginza, and other famous spots. Don’t be turned off by the city location, the hotel has curated a range of exceptional ambiences for a range of experiences, including an exclusive 8 seat counter restaurant with private Japanese rock garden and the ultimate state-of-the-art Bulgari Spa of 1,000 square metres.

Tokyu Kabukicho Tower

On 14 April 2023 a towering high-rise entertainment multi-use complex has opened in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho, one of Tokyo’s liveliest entertainment districts. The grand scale structure starts five levels underground and reaches up 48 levels above ground. Within these walls are two hotels with different categories of luxury and lifestyle (open May 19), restaurants, movie theatres, stage theatres, concert halls, and more. The underground nightlife zone, ZERO TOKYO, will welcome artists from Japan and abroad, creating a space to feel new sensations from a fusion of music, DJ’s, amazing interiors, and live performance.

The two new hotels are tipped to be highlight features of the new complex.

Hotel Groove Shinjuku (opening 19 May 2023)
Entertainment and lifestyle hotel, Hotel Groove Shinjuku (a ParkRoyal Hotel) takes up floors 18 to 38 of the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower. A base to explore the ‘groove’ of the big city, your home-away-from-home in the heart of Tokyo. Art and music bring colour to the hotel interiors, while guestrooms are focused on ease of use. The lower part of the reception floor acts as a social forum to connect both locals and travellers.

Bellustar Tokyo (opening 19 May 2023)
Also in the new tower, luxury hotel, Bellustar Tokyo (a PanPacific Hotel), from level 39 to 47 boasts views from 170 metres above Shinjuku. Guestrooms have Japanese culture woven into the interior design, The Sky Private Villa on the uppermost levels features a restaurant with stunning panoramic views, a spa and five penthouse suites.
