Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of The Pell, a new boutique hotel in Rhode Island’s Aquidneck Island managed by Highgate and part of the JdV by Hyatt brand. The property features a modern bohemian design reflecting the coastal neighbourhood in which it’s located. With a $9 million renovation, The Pell offers 127 spacious guestrooms and suites, including deluxe rooms and suites with kitchenettes. The hotel’s signature restaurant, The Helmway, serves breakfast and dinner with tables and bar seating and offers in-room dining for guests. The Pell also provides customizable meeting and event space, a business centre, an exercise facility, and complimentary parking.
Located less than two miles from famous beaches and less than a mile from Newport Vineyards, The Pell is perfect for travellers seeking a unique coastal experience. The historic Newport Mansions and Cliff Walk are also under three miles away. Guests can unwind at the hotel library after a day exploring or enjoy sustainably sourced, high-quality ingredients from Executive Chef Will Wallbank’s menu at The Helmway.
“We are thrilled to finally be introducing The Pell, which is the first JdV by Hyatt hotel in Rhode Island, to the Newport market,” says Graham Jones, GRJ LLC co-founder of The Pell. “We have put a lot of time, effort and love into this project and know The Pell will have an enormous impact in both Newport and Middletown.”
Initially built in 1989, The Pell underwent extensive renovation, with award-winning architecture and design firms A4 Architecture and Stoa Design Collective transforming all guestrooms and public spaces. The hotel’s calming, neutral palette and natural elements reflect the Middletown neighbourhood’s energy and spirit, with wicker and wooden touches bringing the upscale coastal feel indoors alongside modern, chic interiors.
The Pell provides 1,250 square feet of customizable meeting and event space, making it the perfect setting to host an intimate wedding reception, pre-and post-wedding events, or small business meetings for up to 40 guests. The property also offers a business centre, exercise facility, and complimentary parking.
“We work with local farms and fishermen to deliver fresh options for guests and visitors of Aquidneck Island,” explains Executive Chef Will Wallbank. “The menu itself and cocktail list will change with the seasons.”
The Pell offers guests a unique, modern bohemian experience while providing access to some of Newport’s most iconic attractions and activities. To learn more or to book a reservation, visit https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/hotel/rhode-island/the-pell/pvdjd.
