Bonza Airlines has announced the launch of a new direct flight route between Melbourne and Toowoomba Wellcamp, offering travellers the opportunity to explore the picturesque inland city of Toowoomba and the Darling Downs region. The inaugural flight, which took off from Melbourne (Tullamarine) this morning, was met with enthusiasm from both passengers and officials alike. The new route will operate four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with fares starting from $79 per person one way.
The CEO of Bonza Airlines, Tim Jordan, expressed his excitement at the launch of the new route, stating, “Connecting more Australians to new destinations is what Bonza is all about. Today, we give the people of Melbourne and Toowoomba new reasons to explore their own backyard.” Toowoomba is renowned for its picturesque parks, gardens, and annual Flower Festival, making it an ideal destination for travellers seeking a peaceful retreat. In addition, the city offers a range of cultural events, sporting activities, and dining options, making it an ideal place for locals and tourists alike.
Launching the new route is expected to boost tourism in the Darling Downs region, with travellers now able to explore the area’s scenic beauty and cultural offerings more easily. John Wagner, Chairman of Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport, praised the new route: “The direct connections to North Queensland and Victoria will allow residents direct travel for business, leisure, study, and visiting family and friends. Inbound visitors can also see our beautiful region and experience our impressive tourism industry, injecting millions into our economy and creating additional jobs. We strongly encourage the community to take advantage of these fantastic new flights to visit loved ones and explore the Downs.”
Bonza Airlines has also announced the launch of new flights between Toowoomba Wellcamp and Townsville, which will operate twice a week, with fares starting from $69 per person one way. Additionally, direct flights to Whitsunday Coast Airport will be available from Friday, with fares starting from $59 per person one way.
The launch of these new routes has been met with enthusiasm from officials and travellers alike. Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation Jim Parashos commented on the new Melbourne to Toowoomba route, stating, “Both Melbourne and Toowoomba are known for their gardens and street art, so a low-cost connection between our two cities feels like a natural fit. As Australia’s capital of culture, food, and sport, Melbourne has so much to offer visitors from Queensland, but we know Victorians are just as keen to explore other parts of the country and this will help open up Toowoomba, the Darling Downs, and Queensland’s south-west.”
Travellers are encouraged to download the Fly Bonza app, the only place to book direct flights. With the launch of these new routes, Australians now have even more options to explore their backyard and experience the beauty and diversity of their country.
