The Bali & Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF) is an annual travel mart that has become a major pride of all Indonesian trade shows. The event is initiated by the ASITA Bali Chapter and has been gaining popularity among travel industry professionals around the world. This year, the BBTF is scheduled to take place in June, and there is already strong buyer and seller interest in the event.
According to the chairman of BBTF 2023, I Putu Winastra, 189 companies have registered from a targeted 250 sellers from 44 countries seeking business appointments with 350 buyers who will be on hand to enliven BBTF. This year, for the first time in the history of BBTF, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is assisting the event by contacting foreign tour operators and other international buyers interested in travelling to Indonesia. The event is expected to bring in a total of Rp. 6.77 trillion in total transactions, an increase of 29.6% compared to the previous year’s event.
Top decision-makers from leading hotel management companies, such as Marriott International, the Hyatt Group, Archipelago Hotels, Swiss-bell Hotels, and many other international and Indonesian hotel management companies, will participate as sellers at BBTF. Additionally, 12 regional governments across Indonesia will participate in the event, including Jakarta, East Kalimantan, Makassar, and Tanah Toraja.
One of the unique features of BBTF is its focus on sustainable tourism products. In response to market demand, BBTF will showcase Bali and national sellers promoting sustainable tourism products, with a particular focus on health tourism. This year, the event will emphasize the current global demand for wellness and medical tourism. “Bali continues to diversify economic growth of its tourism sector that is not solely dependent on the number of arrivals, but also on the quality of its products and visitors,” said Putu Winastra.
The BBTF 2023 will operate under a banner proclaiming “Reconnecting Quality and Sustainable Tourism.” This theme highlights the importance of quality and sustainability in the tourism industry, and how they can contribute to economic growth and social welfare.
