Princess Cruises has announced that its spectacular Crown Princess will soon claim the title of the largest cruise ship ever to be based year-round in Australia.
The 113,561-tonne, 3080-guest cruise ship will make history when it debuts in its new homeport of Sydney in October 2024, offering itineraries that include the brand’s longest world cruise to sail roundtrip from Australia – an epic 113-night global odyssey.
Crown Princess is the headline act in Princess Cruises’ new 2024-25 program which features round-Australia voyage options from 5 different cities as well as the maiden Brisbane season of the 2670-guest Diamond Princess, the largest Princess ship ever to be based in the Queensland capital.
The program also includes Princess’ first ever roundtrip cruise from Hobart – an 18-night voyage to New Zealand on the elegant Royal Princess. Guests may also choose to extend their stay in our southernmost state, with two options to take a four- or five-night cruise to and from Hobart.
Between them, Crown Princess, Diamond Princess and Royal Princess will offer 117 departures from 2 to 113 days between October 2024 to September 2025, and will sail from seven different ports for the first time: Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Fremantle (for Perth), Hobart and Auckland.
Princess Cruises President, John Padgett said the decision to base a large ship such as Crown Princess down under year-round was testament to Australians’ love for long cruises.
“Over the past season we’ve seen more and more Australian and New Zealand guests making up for lost time travelling, choosing our longer, life-changing journeys to maximise their holiday in style,” Mr. Padgett said.
“Thanks to Crown Princess’ generous size, we’ll be able to carry over 50 per cent more guests on popular itineraries like our world cruise and Australian circumnavigation voyages, adding more affordable stateroom types and more premium suites than ever before to cater for a broad range of travellers.”
With roundtrip departures from Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland in May and June 2025, Crown Princess’ world voyage will visit 49 exotic ports across 28 countries, including Spain’s Barcelona and Mallorca, Norway’s Lofoten Islands and Tromso, Iceland’s Isafjordur and Reykjavik, Greenland’s Qaqortoq, Morocco’s Casablanca, Easter Island in the Pacific, and Pisco in Peru. Crown Princess’ round Australia journeys will depart from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Fremantle, with Princess Standard Fares starting from AU$5,299pp* per person twin share to Princess Premier Fares starting from AU$7,119* per person twin share.
On sale from April 4 for Elite Guests and April 5, 2023 for General Public Sale, the new program features voyages visiting 66 different destinations, including late stays in 13 ports such as Victoria’s Phillip Island, where local fairy penguins provide an enchanting evening show for guests. - Princess will offer 17 voyages to New Zealand on 3 ships all departing from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne including a 14-night round trip cruise on Royal Princess departing from Sydney on December 7 visiting Bay of Islands, Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch (Lyttleton), Dunedin (Port Chalmers), Fiordland National Park (scenic cruising).
- Princess first-ever roundtrip cruise from Hobart – an 18-night voyage to New Zealand departing November 14, 2024.
- Three roundtrip voyages from Adelaide including a 19-night cruise to New Zealand departing October 3, 2024.
