Etihad Airways, the Abu Dhabi-based airline, has announced new and enhanced interline and codeshare agreements with six airlines across Asia, Africa, and Europe. The new partnerships include Philippine Airlines, Austrian Airlines, and Airlink South Africa, while interline links have been re-established with Biman Bangladesh and codeshare with Air Seychelles and ITA Airways.
These agreements will enable customers of all airlines involved to enjoy enhanced connectivity to destinations across each other’s networks. With the switch to the Amadeus Altéa Passenger Service System, Etihad Airways has facilitated new and improved connectivity for its passengers.
The partnerships will offer a host of benefits to passengers, including the ability to book on a single ticket and check in only once for their entire journey, with their baggage checked through to their final destination. This will make travel simpler and more convenient for passengers, who will also be able to access a broader range of destinations across each airline’s network.
For example, the partnership with Austrian Airlines will provide Etihad’s passenger’s access to up to 58 European destinations via Vienna, while the partnership with Airlink South Africa will offer seamless access to 16 domestic destinations in South Africa and 25 regional African destinations. Meanwhile, the partnership with Philippine Airlines will provide easy access to 19 domestic Filipino destinations, including Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, and Kalibo.
These new and enhanced interline and codeshare agreements reflect Etihad Airways’ commitment to broadening its network reach and making travel more convenient for its passengers. Arik De, Etihad’s Chief Revenue Officer, stated, “These six interline/code agreements make life easier for guests of all the airlines involved. Our links with Biman and Air Seychelles were affected by those airlines’ own system migrations over the last 12 months, so we’re pleased to re-connect with them to offer further destinations.”
The expanded interline and codeshare offerings will be progressively rolled out across Etihad sales channels, including Etihad.com and travel agents, over the coming weeks. These new partnerships will undoubtedly make travel easier and more convenient for passengers, offering them greater choice and flexibility in planning their journeys.
In conclusion, these new and enhanced partnerships represent a significant step forward for Etihad Airways and its passengers. The airline’s commitment to expanding its network reach and making travel simpler and more convenient is evident in these partnerships, which will undoubtedly benefit passengers across Asia, Africa, and Europe. With these new agreements, Etihad Airways is well-positioned to continue to provide its passengers with exceptional service and a seamless travel experience.
