American Cruise Lines has announced the construction of their fourth new Coastal Cat, American Legend, in their Project Blue series, designed to sail almost any domestic cruise itinerary. The 100-guest vessel features an innovative new hull design that is a hallmark of the series and will begin cruising the U.S. in late 2024. The first three ships in the series, American Eagle, American Glory, and American Liberty, are set to begin sailing in the next twelve months.
American Cruise Lines is the only cruise line in the world to operate a 100% U.S.-flagged fleet of both riverboats and small cruise ships, and the only cruise line in the country to offer 100% U.S. itineraries along both rivers and coasts. The company has nearly tripled its fleet in the past five years, introducing innovative new small ships and leading the resurgence of the river cruise market in the U.S.
American Legend will offer spacious lounges inside and out, an open-air top deck for spectacular views, and multiple dining venues. The ship’s unique hull form allows for a wide activity platform at the stern, equipped with kayaks and a large tender for in-depth adventure directly from the ship. The vessel will feature 56 staterooms and suites, each with a furnished private balcony.
American Cruise Lines’ new series of Coastal Cats, including American Legend, can be virtually toured on the company’s website under the “Ships” tab. A 360-degree tour of the Coastal Cats is also available.
All of American’s new Coastal Cats are being built by Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, MD. American Legend will join the 18 other new small ships in American’s fleet, which includes riverboats and small cruise ships. The company’s commitment to U.S. flagging and itineraries has made it a leader in the domestic cruise market, and the addition of American Legend will only strengthen that position.
