Museum collection of spare parts transformed into Spencer motorcycle
A collection of spare motorcycle parts donated to Queensland Museum Network 25 years ago have been painstakingly transformed by a group of motorcycle enthusiasts into a beautiful and rare motorcycle now on display at The Workshops Rail Museum at Ipswich. The Spencer Project pays homage to Queenslander David Spencer who developed the first locally and likely wholly-made and distinctly Australian motorcycle engine at the Ipswich Railway Workshops – now home of The Workshops Rail Museum – in 1903.
