New Caledonia Tourism recently hosted its e-learning trade program and invited its top-performing Australian travel agents to experience the destination firsthand. The travel agents who scored the highest in the e-learning platform were awarded a spot on the famil, which was held from March 9th to 14th. The event was hosted by New Caledonia Tourism and national airline Aircalin.

The famil started with a stay at the 5-star Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Spa & Golf Resort in Bourail on the West Coast. The group enjoyed a range of activities, including beach chilling, a glass-bottom boat tour in the UNESCO lagoon, and visits to the Giant Fern Park and a distillery in Boulouparis. The group then headed to Noumea to experience all that the city has to offer, such as a range of hotel site visits, culturally immersive experiences at the Tjibaou Cultural Centre, and wine and cheese tastings.
Rebecca Marchal, Account Director for New Caledonia Tourisme Australia, emphasized the value of inviting travel agents to the destination. “We see the incredible value in inviting travel agents to New Caledonia, showing them around so they can learn all the great things about our destination and have an intrinsic knowledge about New Cal to be able to sell it to their customers,” said Marchal.
New Caledonia is Australia’s next-door neighbour, located less than three hours from Sydney and two hours from Brisbane. Its unique Melanesian culture, exotic South Pacific charm, and cosmopolitan French chic make it a sought-after holiday destination. The destination is surrounded by the world’s largest lagoon, which has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In December, a group of wholesalers was also invited to the New Caledonia Rendez-Vous Workshop to meet with local industry partners.
Travel agents can sign up for the e-learning program to become a New Caledonia Specialist and be eligible for future famils to New Caledonia. For more information on the destination, please visit https://www.newcaledonia.travel/au.
