Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) has celebrated a remarkable milestone with its first full-house event since the pandemic began. The successful conclusion of the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show marked an encouraging comeback for Hong Kong’s exhibition industry. The twin 5-day jewellery shows attracted over 2,500 exhibiting companies from 36 countries and regions and more than 60,000 buyers from 130 countries and regions.
The managing director of HKCEC, Ms Monica Lee-Müller, remarked that the twin jewellery shows came at a perfect time following the city’s lifting of the mask mandate, which provided further impetus to the rebound of Hong Kong’s exhibition and convention sector. The full utilization of the exhibition spaces underscored the strong resurgence of Hong Kong’s exhibition industry since the reopening of borders with overseas destinations and the Mainland. HML has seen a surge in booking enquiries from both overseas and local exhibition and convention organizers.
Ms Lee-Müller noted that HML will continue to promote Hong Kong’s unique advantages as a strategic city within the Greater Bay Area, expanding smooth and convenient linkages between China and other international markets. She further stated that HML’s investment plans, upgrading of facilities, and strengthening of staff competence, coupled with their experience and expertise in supporting world-class events, have laid a solid foundation for the return of international events and visitors back to Hong Kong and HKCEC.
The Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show occupied all exhibition halls, multi-purpose halls, and some meeting rooms at the HKCEC. This impressive milestone signals a bright future for Hong Kong’s exhibition industry, poised to reclaim its leadership status as the Trade Fair Capital of Asia.
In conclusion, the successful and safe conclusion of the twin jewellery shows indicates a much-needed rebound for Hong Kong’s exhibition and convention sector. HML’s proactive promotion of Hong Kong’s advantages and investments in upgrading facilities and staff competence bode well for the return of international events and visitors to the HKCEC. With the reopening of borders and lifting of mask mandates, Hong Kong’s exhibition industry is set to reclaim its leadership status in the region.
