AutoFlight Prosperity I_ Gen4_5AutoFlight, a global pioneer in eVTOL technology, has made history by achieving the world’s longest fully electric aircraft flight with a distance of 250 km/155 miles on a single charge of the lithium-ion batteries of its new Gen4 Prosperity I aircraft. The successful test flight, which took place on February 23rd at the company’s testing facility, marks a significant milestone in the development of the aircraft towards its goal of airworthiness certification with EASA in 2025.

AutoFlight Prosperity I Gen4

The Gen4 design, created by legendary automotive designer Frank Stephenson, is the first aircraft of its kind to demonstrate such exceptional range and performance. It features state-of-the-art avionics and has been meticulously tested and refined by AutoFlight’s Flight Test team to ensure its safety and reliability.

The flight consisted of 20 circuits on a predefined flight track, with the aircraft remotely piloted from the ground. To ensure accuracy and record verification, third-party avionics were used to record the distance flown on ForeFlight, an independent system widely used in the aviation sector. The achievement is a testament to AutoFlight’s unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of eVTOL technology and creating a more sustainable future for aviation.

AutoFlight’s Prosperity I aircraft uses rotors to lift the aircraft vertically for takeoff and then transitions to horizontal flight on the wing like a traditional aeroplane. The aircraft can reach speeds in excess of 200KMH and has a range greater than 250 km. It is also one of only a few eVTOL OEMs to have successfully mastered the challenging ‘transition phase’ from vertical to horizontal flight.

The world record-breaking flight demonstrates the potential of eVTOL technology to revolutionize the aviation industry by providing efficient, low-emission transportation solutions. AutoFlight’s achievement is a significant step towards a future where eVTOL aircraft will play a vital role in reducing carbon emissions and making air travel more accessible and sustainable.

In conclusion, AutoFlight’s world record-breaking flight is a significant achievement for the company and the eVTOL industry. The successful test flight demonstrates the enormous potential of eVTOL technology and highlights the progress being made towards creating a more sustainable future for aviation. As we move towards a greener and more efficient aviation industry, it is essential that we continue to support and invest in innovative solutions like eVTOL aircraft.
