Discover Margarita’s Spicy Cousin this International Margarita Day.

Celebrating 2023’s International Margarita Day (Wednesday 22nd of February), flavoured-Tequila brand Ghost Tequila has launched its official ‘PERFECT SERVE’ Spicy Margarita.

Hailed as the next big thing in cocktails, over one third of US consumers say they prefer Spicy Margaritas to regular Margaritas (37% according to recent Suzy Data*). It is a trend that is quickly gaining traction in Australia, with major bars now featuring margarita’s spicy cousin on their menus.

Up until recently the only way to get a great tasting, well-balanced Spicy Margarita was to visit one of these bars, or try your hand at the complex task at home.

Enter Ghost Tequila: a 100% Blue Agave Tequila blended with Ghost Pepper (or bhut jolokia) extract, designed to help everyday consumers craft this heat infused cocktail at home effectively, in rapid time.

“The growth of this cocktail variant over the last few years has been incredible – reaching cult-like status” said ICONIC Beverages Brand Manager Andy Kelly, the team managing Ghost Tequila’s distribution here in Australia.

“However, up until recently the best way to create a spicy margarita was to take a high-quality 100% blue agave tequila, then mix and age it with chilies. This process is incredibly time consuming and difficult to master, often leading to unnecessary wastage and varying levels of consistency and spiciness.”

Unlike regular Tequila, the chili extract in Ghost gives it just the right amount of punch, which, when mixed with the right ingredients, makes for a well-balanced Spicy Margarita every time.

To create your PERFECT SERVE Spicy Margarita at home this Margarita Day, pick up a bottle of Ghost Tequila (available at your local Dan Murphy’s) and follow this simple recipe:

Ingredients:– 60mL Ghost Tequila
– 30mL Fresh Lime Juice
– 15mL Agave Nectar
– GARNISH: Chili Salt around rim of glass (chili and lime to preference)

The Process:1. Squeeze a wedge of lime around the rim of a glass and dip it in chili salt.
2. Measure and pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and add a cup of ice
3. Shake around 25 times
4. Strain into your ice-filled, salt rimmed glass
5. Garnish with lime wedge and chili (optional)
