Air India Business ClassAir India, the leading airline of India and a proud member of the Star Alliance, has just taken off on a journey of expansion and increased accessibility for both tourists and business travellers. The airline has launched a new, non-stop operation from Delhi to Milan, operating four times a week. This move, along with the imminent operations from Delhi to Vienna and Copenhagen, marks a significant strengthening of Air India’s presence in Europe. The return flight, AI 138, landed back in Delhi this morning, marking the start of this exciting new venture.

With flight AI137 operating on Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays, tourists and business travellers will have an efficient and convenient way to reach their desired destinations. The flight departs Delhi at 1420 hrs and lands in Milan at 1830 hrs, with the return flight, AI 138, leaving Milan at 2000 hrs to reach Delhi at 0800 hrs the following day.

This new venture is operated on the next-generation B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, offering 18 Business Class seats and 238 Economy Class seats to accommodate travellers. Tourists from India will now have easy access to popular European cities such as Zurich, Rome, Florence, Vienna, Venice, Monte Carlo, Munich, Budapest, Geneva, Cannes, and Copenhagen.

Moreover, this non-stop flight between Delhi and Milan will greatly benefit the Indian diaspora in Italy, as well as Italians visiting cities in India and onward travelling to destinations in Southeast Asia, East Asia, Kathmandu, and even Australia. To celebrate this exciting connection, Air India will offer an attractive promotional fare on this route.

The launch of flight AI137 was marked by a grand event at the IGI Airport in Delhi, graced by Air India’s Chief Customer Experience & Global Head of Ground Handling, Mr Rajesh Dogra, along with senior Air India officials and GMR & AISATS executives. The occasion was celebrated by lighting a ceremonial lamp, cutting the ribbon, and presenting a large designer boarding card to the first guest. The flight also featured a specially curated menu, blending the rich flavours of Indian cuisine with authentic Italian flavours to create a unique dining experience for guests on board.

The flight was warmly received in Milan by dignitaries, who marked the occasion with a celebration. The return flight, AI 138, departed Milan with 249 guests and landed back in Delhi at 0800 hrs IST.

With the resumption of these flights, Air India will be serving 7 cities in Europe with 79 weekly non-stop flights, 48 to the United Kingdom and 31 to Continental Europe. This expansion is a testament to Air India’s commitment to its five-year transformation plan, “Vihaan.AI,” and the airline’s ongoing efforts to augment its fleet and enhance its global network.
