‘Tulsa King’

Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge has over 50 mammal species, 240 bird species, 64 amphibian and reptile species, 36 fish species, and 806 plant species. The 59,020-acre wildlife refuge was established in 1901 as a forest reserve, and in 1905 President Theodore Roosevelt designated it as Wichita Forest and Game Preserve to protect game animals and serve as their breeding habitat.
