William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), the only airport in North America to boast a 5-Star International Rating from Skytrax, will host the opening of Gameway’s newest location in the International Terminal on December 5th, ahead of the highly-anticipated holiday travel season. The Skytrax World Airport Star Rating is a global benchmark of quality for the aviation industry, focusing on traveler-facing amenities, facilities, and staff; areas in which Gameway excels. As the premiere airport video gaming lounge, Gameway’s award-winning luxury gaming stations, and industry-leading amenities and services perfectly complement and enhance Hobby Airport’s commitment to first-class service.
The newest Gameway video gaming lounge opens in a much sought-after location in Hobby Airport’s International Terminal, and offers 15 top-of-the-line luxury gaming stations: six Xbox stations, five Playstation stations, four PC stations, all with the newest games. Each PC station is equipped with Razer’s Iskur Gaming Chairs and Kraken Headsets, along with dedicated high speed internet. “Gameway is the real reason to get to the airport early,” said Co-Founder Jordan Walbridge. “Our mission is to upgrade the typical wait-at-the-gate experience with a new stimulating, entertaining option for travelers of all ages.”
“With Gameway, Hobby Airport now offers a unique entertainment and retail experience to our visitors and the avid gaming community,” noted Francisco Cuellar, Chief Development Officer for Houston Airports. “As the first and only 5-star rated airport in North America, Hobby continues to elevate the passenger experience with quality and diverse retail offerings for all of our passengers.”
Gameway’s opening comes right in time for the holiday travel season, where HOU projects an increase in traveler volume over even the record-breaking 2019 holiday season. The International terminal alone serves routes to over 20 different countries, and as millions of families pass through the terminal this holiday season, Gameway offers a unique way for travelers to de-stress on their trip.
“We’re thrilled to open our newest location at Hobby Airport, and grateful to our partner Paradies Lagardère for their support and belief in the Gameway brand as a cutting-edge customer-first concept,” said Co-Founder Emma Walbridge who is an ACDBE (airport concessions disadvantaged business owner). “Being asked to be part of Skytrax’s only 5 star airport in North America is an honor and I am looking forward to exceeding the airport’s and their customers’ expectations.”
“We’re excited to help bring such a unique entertainment option to the William P. Hobby Airport,” added Cassandra Bozeman, Vice President of Business Development for Paradies Lagardère. “Gameway is a leader in the video gaming lounge arena and their presence in Houston will certainly be an exciting addition to the overall traveler experience.”
With the opening of this location at HOU, Gameway caps off an impressive five years in business: after opening the first two Gameway locations at the Dallas Fort-Worth Airport, Gameway was awarded Best Traveler Amenity in 2019 at the ACI-NA Awards and later, in 2020, voted “Most Innovative Customer Experience” at the Airport Experience Traveler Awards. They followed this success with two new locations in 2021: LAX Terminal 6 and Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The first Gameway Ultra opened in September at Delta’s Terminal 3 in LAX.
