TFE Hotels will launch into 2023 in style, opening the doors to three new-build hotels in the first three months of the year. The group will expand its homegrown Adina and Vibe Hotels brands with fresh addresses in two gateway-Australian cities, and a third in Geneva signalling TFE’s debut in Switzerland.

Reflecting on the past year, TFE Hotels’ Group chief operating officer, Chris Sedgwick, said the group has successfully implemented its ambitious growth plan, even under challenging circumstances.

“In just 13 months, Adina – which is a proud, homegrown Australian brand – has launched the Vibe and Adina brands in Singapore and, with six new builds, expanded its portfolio in Europe to a total of 17 hotels. In Europe, this represents a growth of almost 50 percent, not least of all in Germany, where Adina Hotels is now represented in the eight largest German cities and all regions and is the market leader in the future serviced apartments sector”.

In 2023 and beyond, TFE focuses on expanding its footprint in Australia and overseas with design-led and destination-focused properties.

Meet the three very different yet highly anticipated new TFE hotels to welcome guests in Q1 2023.

Adina Apartment Hotel Pentridge Melbourne (opening February 2023)

MELBOURNE: Australia’s historic Pentridge site is poised to become one of Australia’s most sought-after and talked about lifestyle destinations with the arrival of the new Adina Apartment Hotel Pentridge in February.

Developed by the Shayher Group, the 110-apartment hotel is part of a fresh, billion-dollar lifestyle precinct in Coburg includes residential apartments, shopping, dining outlets and an outdoor cinema. Notably, the new-built portion of the Adina Pentridge has been added to a section of the former prison known as ‘Division B’ and the adaptive reuse of B Division’s panopticon exercise yard into the hotel’s reception, modern glass hotel tower and porte cochere are a solid nod to the history of the site.

Located just 8 km from Melbourne CBD, the project seamlessly blends contemporary architectural design with the building’s distinct and remarkable heritage, including adding a function centre to the prison’s former chapel with its beautiful high lead-light windows, making it ideal for weddings or business events.

Gastronomes can also visit the city’s newest elevated bistro, North & Common, and chic upmarket wine bar, Olivine, with Chef Thomas Woods at the helm of both venues and Australia’s most exciting young sommelier, Liinaa Berry curating the wine lists. These anchor tenants are set to open in the Pentridge lifestyle precinct next February and, by all accounts, would be right at home in nearby Carlton or Fitzroy.

Vibe Hotel Adelaide (opening February 2023)

SOUTH AUSTRALIA: There will be plenty to fall in love with at the urban oasis that is Vibe Hotel Adelaide, slated to
open on the 14th of February.

The first Vibe in South Australia, the 18-storey upscale hotel, features 123 luxuriously appointed guest rooms complete with open-plan bathrooms and thoughtful floor-to-ceiling windows that frame city views and offer vistas out to the scenic Adelaide Hills. In masterminding this design-focused hotel, multi-award winning Loucas Zahos Architects have also incorporated an urban pool deck, spa, sauna for guests for a ‘resort in the city’ vibe. On the ground level, the atmosphere continues with a vibrant, inner-city community feel inspired by a lively social scene served up by the hotel’s own Storehouse Flinders East restaurant and bar below.

As South Australia’s newest upscale lifestyle hotel, TFE’s newest Vibe hotel is unapologetically ‘local’ and unmistakably Adelaide at every turn. From its homegrown owner, developer and Vibe branding through to its cuisine, striking art in the foyer, and indigenous-inspired external art in the precinct, which acknowledges the Kaurna people (who originally occupied what is now Adelaide city and its surrounding parklands). It will become the flagship hotel for Adelaide’s ‘east end’ in the Flinders East precinct, completing developer GuavaLime’s 20-year strategy for the site and transforming the city skyline.

Adina Apartment Hotel Geneva (opening 1 March 2023)

SWITZERLAND: In Europe, TFE Hotels will debut in Switzerland with the opening of the Adina Apartment Hotel Geneva. Welcoming its first guests in March, the hotel offers a choice of 140 spacious one and two-bedroom or studio apartment-style hotel rooms, many with views of the picturesque alps. Set within an 11-hectare lifestyle precinct – currently the most significant private real estate investment in Switzerland – the Adina Hotel will offer a variety of on-site leisure and service offerings as well as a bustling retail precinct as a vital part of the rapidly developing Quartier de L’Étang development.

The precinct is ideally situated on the transport axis between the airport, exhibition centre and Geneva’s city centre, making it incredibly attractive to visitors. At the same time, the Adina Apartment Hotel Geneva will act as a gateway to this new urban quarter. Hotel amenities include a fitness and wellness facility, 24-hour reception, restaurant and a public multi-storey car park with more than 1,700 parking spaces. Geneva’s largest shopping mall, Balexert, and the CERN Research Centre are within easy walking distance, while bus shuttles connect to Geneva’s bustling airport.

The hotel’s developer, PG Promotors SA and owner Claude Berda, is committed to converting the Quartier de L‘Étang into a new, mixed-use district. Retail spaces, administrative offices, a medical centre, student residences, a conference centre and three hotels will be established.
TFE Hotels’ Group Chief Operating Officer, Chris Sedgwick, said international guests contribute to a huge proportion of overnight stays in Geneva, representing a great opportunity for TFE as an apartment hotel specialist.

“Overseas guests accounted for 82% of approximately 3 million overnight stays in 2017, however, the city has a very low proportion of apartment hotels to best cater to this style of traveller. The fact that the market is not competitive in this space gives us an opportunity to position Adina Hotels as a long-term market leader in Switzerland, with Zurich, Basel and Lucerne other potential locations in the future.”

Did you know that Geneva is the home of modern watchmaking? Despite Swiss watches never missing a beat, time will slow down for Adina guests with a room on the hotel’s upper floors, thanks to the southern orientation of the hotel extending magnificent views of the Alps beyond the city centre.
