On Wednesday, 30 November 2022, Australia’s award-winning Aurora Spa Group opens the doors to Aurora Spa & Bathhouse’s treatment rooms and Aurora Spa Store at The Continental Sorrento, with the final element – a European-inspired ‘Bathhouse’ – planned to open in mid-December.
Founded by Australian wellness expert and entrepreneur, Lyndall Mitchell, Aurora Spa & Bathhouse is the culmination of more than two decades in the wellness industry and delivers a refined immersive experience within a luxurious sanctuary created by design studio Woods Bagot. Inspired by the Mornington Peninsula, its spaces allow guests to pause, reset and replenish, with interiors in a warm neutral palette, featuring soft oak panelling, brass accents and sandy terracotta terrazzo tiles underfoot.
“Our new coastal location has been thoughtfully designed to bring guests the maximum results in the minimum amount of time. It was essential to create an experience that would help guests switch off from the moment they arrived, so every element and detail was meticulously considered. The concept is heavily influenced by Aurora’s twenty-plus years of experience and understanding of what guests love, coupled with my own love of European bathing culture and using evidence-based practices and therapies to achieve maximum results.,” says Mitchell.
Within the elegant serenity of the Aurora treatment rooms, guests can experience evidence-based remedies, therapeutic massages, skin-health facials and body rituals. Each individualised spa treatment is delivered using Aurora Spa Group’s very own ASPAR products – formulated to bring you nature in a bottle with botanically active extracts – as well as exclusive products and specialised techniques from French skincare brand Biologique Recherche.
Wellness coaching, mindfulness and meditation are led by Mitchell and delivered by her and an expert team of coaches and teachers. The team are focused on providing guests with a future of positive well-being and helps them to identify what is truly important and meaningful so that they can move toward sustained, high-impact change in their lives with clarity and conviction. Both individual and package wellness coaching and meditation sessions can be purchased.
Pre or post-treatment, guests can browse a carefully selected range of products at the Aurora Spa Store curated by Mitchell and her expert team; including bespoke salt soak and scrub blends as take-home gifts, custom-made at an elegant copper apothecary station that takes pride in place in the store.

Spa
Eight treatment rooms, set up to accommodate both singles and couples, offer therapies designed for impactful results. Each treatment uses a customised mix of botanically active lotions, serums, elixirs, muds, clays, polishes and therapeutic oils, paired with sophisticated techniques to leave guests feeling relaxed, revitalised and renewed.
Treatments range from both relaxing and invigorating massages to detoxifying body wraps, facials, exfoliation and pregnancy treatments. Highlights include:
- A Private Float Room treatment gives guests an experience of total freedom and profound peace whilst floating weightlessly in highly concentrated, magnesium-rich Epsom salt water. A one-hour session ($85) of undisturbed blissful comfort is the equivalent of four hours of sleep and is recommended as a treatment series, (3-pack $200, 10-pack $700)
- Himalayan Sound and Stone Massage (1.5hr, $280), a unique treatment that uses three elements of percussion sound and warm Himalayan pink salt stones to bring next-level results to your massage experience
- Contouring Algae Wrap (1.5hr, $360), featuring a powerful cocktail of Biologique Recherche products and techniques to detoxify the epidermis, firm and tone the skin, eliminate impurities and alleviate water retention for a slimming and contouring effect
- As well as a number of add-on treatments, such as the Soothing Leg and Foot Treatment, Intensive Hair & Scalp Revival and Express Glow Facial (all 30 mins – add-on $95, solo $130)
For the ultimate rejuvenating experience the Aurora Immersion Ritual ($780) is a six-hour series of treatments, including bathing, a 1.5-hour Soothing Bliss Massage, Botanical Spa Facial, soothing Scalp Massage and a Private Salt Therapy Float, as well as a nourishing wholefood lunch and a freshly squeezed juice or Wildlife Botanicals organic sparkling wine.
Biologique Recherche Medi-Facials
Adored by beauty editors and celebrity facialists around the world, Biologique Recherche’s Medi-facials are clinical-strength, holistic facial treatments using products and techniques prescribed by a skin specialist for visibly transformative results.
Every Medi-facial is completely customised to target multiple concerns in one luxurious experience. They utilise raw, cold-formulated, active ingredients in high concentration, along with French draining and lifting massage techniques and a physiotherapist-designed Remodelling Face machine to lift, tone, sculpt, oxygenate and increase penetration of active ingredients, for clearer, calmer more luminous skin.
