The Company was founded in 1991 by Greg & Margaret Mortimer, who had a passion for adventure, exploring wild places and sharing experiences with friends. Since the early days of exploring Antarctica and other remote destinations, Aurora Expeditions now has two new purpose-built ships, the Greg Mortimer and the Sylvia Earle. The Sylvia Earle is named after renowned American explorer and oceanographer Dr Sylvia Earle. The Greg Mortimer was launched in 2019, and the Sylvia Earle is launching in December 2022.
