YHA Australia is thrilled to announce the launch of Y-Hive, a new co-working concept that is gradually being rolled out to YHA’s city and regional properties across the country.

Today, the first Y-Hive co-working space officially launches at YHA’s award-winning Katoomba property, Blue Mountains YHA.

A first of its kind for the area, this dedicated hot-desking space has been thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of locals, out-of-town visitors and guests of the property.

These new spaces will be ideal for digital nomads, those who are tired of working from home, or those taking advantage of newfound flexibility to combine their next holiday with work.

Building on its iconic Australian brand and 80-year heritage, YHA Australia is taking forward its timeless values and innovating its offerings for the future of travel.

“We’re witnessing a significant surge in location independent digital nomads, seeking more flexibility to work remotely while they explore Australia. With the roll out of Y-Hive facilities across the country we’re ensuring our properties are well equipped to cater to these growing needs”, says YHA Australia CEO Paul McGrath.

“The concept of Y-Hive was developed as a result of extensive research from an Innovation Accelerator program, which we took part in in order to understand what our guests wanted. The results not only gave us a distilled answer to this question, but also pointed us in the direction of a brand-new revenue stream for YHA Australia – and that’s how Y-Hive was born”, says Paul.

Y-Hive Blue Mountains offers rates for hourly, half day, full day and multiday access to the facilities, where visitors can enjoy a convenient working environment with modern amenities, reliable Wi-Fi and comfortable furnishings – effortlessly marrying adventure and exploration, with remote working.

The introduction of co-working facilities to properties across the country is a key as part of YHA Australia’s wider re-brand strategy which officially launched in June 2022.

It’s one of the first moves in reimagining YHA Australia’s properties to cater to the changing needs of travellers, showcasing the diversification of its product range and proving YHA offers much more than just a place to rest your head.

Brisbane Y-Hive facilities will open at Brisbane City YHA at the end of November, and will serve as the perfect base to work while exploring Queensland’s capital. Byron Bay Y-Hive facilities are set to launch in early December 2022 at Byron Bay YHA, where visitors can relish in the creative beachside lifestyle while enjoying access to a quiet place to work.
